Solomon Island Leaf Frogs produce pea-sized eggs that hatch into incredibly, absurdly tiny froglets. These itty bitty newborns could rest comfortably atop a pinkie nail- though the species is so flighty at any age that they would never actually do so.

Whenever I've unearthed a clutch of Leaf Frog eggs, they would be coated in soil and brown in hue. Over time repeated misting would wash this coating away and reveal transparent shell and embryo within. I always assumed the eggs were sticky and soil stuck.

Like many insects, large beetles undergo complete metamorphosis. Larva -> pupa -> adult. Where large beetles differ is that after the adult beetle emerges from the pupa, it still isn't done cooking!
