Winter astrophoto of the winter circle
Haven't done any #astrophotography for a long time. Last night I took a few shots of the #wintercircle and stacked it in ASTAP. If there's any astrophotographers who use #Linux, what's the best app for stacking astrophotos in Linux? ASTAP felt good, but I'm interested in options.
Meet the Winter Circle! The #WinterCircle (or #WinterHexagon) is a large ring of some of the brightest #stars in the Northern Hemisphere’s winter sky. In 2026, #Jupiter will lie near it in the evening sky, too! 🌌🔭

For the first time this year, I stood out in the cold, looked up, and counted off the stars of the whole #WinterCircle, with the #FullMoon in the middle of the action. Capella, Castor, Pollux, Procyon, Sirius, Rigel, Aldebaran.

As the gorgeous #FullMoon lights up the first night of #NewYear2018, it crosses the #WinterCircle, and is right in the middle of four very bright #stars: #Betelgeuse (#Orion); Pollux (#Gemini); Capella (Auriga); and Procyon (Canis Minor). #Space
