But that's all just framing for the tattoo which takes up much of the forearm: a stylized eel, done in block shapes. Its head is pointed to his elbow joint, as if there's a dead horse in there that's right for the eating. It's tale curves around, making a shape that looks a bit like a backwards 5. Unlike many eels, this one has no name. I drew it while I was desperately sick with Covid in the March, 2020, and it is simply my eel. It reminds me of eels' marvelous capacity for complete change and adaptation, and it means a great deal to me. I use is on the logo for my maps, in the compass rose, and I paid a man to bury it in my skin with thousands of little stabbings. It doesn't need a name.
