So I used water to remove much of the cracked wash and then applied some more yellow that was more thorougly shaken after adding a small ball. It now looks passable from the front and almost passable from the rear when held at some distance. I'm thinking of leaving it like this #wssadvent24
Guy: The collars have been done done in Absolution Green and the boots in Black Templar. Still a lot to do and not a lot of time left. will i make it? Check back tomorrow to find out! #WSSAdvent24 #wargaming
Painted Perry plastic models representing 60th Rifles. 28mm scale.
I found a bit more time today. Some basing and I’ll call these done. #wssadvent24
Perry British Napoleonic era Riflemen. Part painted as 60th Rifles.
Stretch goal for #wssadvent24: some 60th Rifles. I doubt I’ll finish them this side of Christmas, but hopefully soon afterwards.
Chris: The idea of doing any form of tartan or decorative cloak is quite daunting. Nevertheless, I thought I'd try going out of my comfort zone and give it a try. The overall effect is for me good enough. #WSSAdvent24 #wargaming
With the squad finished and the Senior Lesders almost there, I'll call it a day on my controbution to #WSSadvent24
Tonight I'm out on a concert, so my chances of finishing the Senior Leaders in time, are low to non-existent anyway

This is the one not cooperating. Wash (army painter strong tone) is all cracked up and smudged. I first thought was the medium I used but I repainted the yellow and used new medium (AP wash medium): Same result. This only seems to happen on the yellow surface. You guys have a solution? #wssadvent24
Jasper: I told myself this was a simple uniform, but in the final stages, there's always lace, and buttons, and tassels, and .... Officer's lace is always a bugger. Metallics look weird, but a paint mixture isn't ideal either. #WSSAdvent24 #wargaming
Mark: The next stage is picking out the pikemen along the sides and rear. Bronze dots and flesh dots for helmets and faces. White and red dots for shields and bodies. #WSSAdvent24 #wargaming
Angus: Based using Greek Gaming ‘Ready Mars Earth Small’ with some spring tufts. The red earth gives the impression of Vietnam. This 10mm small force is just awaiting their Helicopters and an enemy to take on. #WSSAdvent24 #wargaming
So I've done the last touch ups and the varnishing, but that's not particularly interesting for you. However, here they are with the basing done. Yes, this means 8 of them are now finished! But there is one holdout, and I'm quite pessimistic about solving it. More on that later... #wssadvent24
Here's a great example of some World War 2 French infantry with a light machinegun painted by @moiterei.bsky.social. Are you joining our Advent challenge? #WSSAdvent24 #wargaming
Just a quick snapshot for #WipWednesday. I'll probably finish the whole squad in time for #WSSadvent24 but might not get the senior leaders done, as there's @tomjmegan.bsky.social|s Panzer IV challenge also calling. Decisions, decisions...

Painted Perry British Napoleonic models. Painted to represent troops of the 88th Connaught Rangers.
Calling these done (bar basing). A painting chat with @redmanphill.bsky.social made the last few steps go quickly. #wssadvent24
Guy: I'm working inside out, so applying the uniform colours before appying the webbing which will be darker. AP Speed Paint Camo Cloak for the tunic and Citadel Contrast Basilicanum Grey for the trousers. #WSSAdvent24 #wargaming
Chris: Advent minis should be something a little different, Chris has chosen to be more daring by including some detail on the eyes and some simple blue Celtic patterns on the skin. Rule of cool, right? #WSSAdvent24 #wargaming
Started on the highlights and touching up yesterday evening. Some of the paint jobs are coming together nicely. Others... I'm not so sure #wssadvent24
Jasper: I'm making good progress. Who knew discipline and painting an hour a day would pay off? But there's still a lot to do and not many days left... #WSSAdvent24 #wargaming
Mark: I painted the pike in honey brown and left the ends black. I used thin striped motions to pick out the pikes. The heads of the pikes are dotted in silver using a brush and a silver Uni Posca paint pen. #WSSAdvent24 #wargaming
Did the wash yesterday but not really satisfied because I used the wrong medium. It didn't really improve flow. So a lot of work to do still #wssadvent24
Angus: Based and highlighted; I didnt bother with a wash. They look great for a distance. Next is to add some terrain material flock and tufts to the bases to finish them off. #WSSAdvent24 #wargaming
Are you joining our Advent challenge? If our challenge gets one more person to be inspired to do some painting, it'll be worth it. Here is a photo from 'recruit_painting' on instagram, who just finished late war Soviet T34/85.

Coloured in some last bits, touched up a few others. Not perfect, but good enough to apply a wash. Halfway down the #wssadvent24
Guy: After Ali's Brown Wash has dried, I applied a white drybrush to with Citadel Dry achieve the grisaile effect I wanted. The basing texture is done. The rest will be painting by numbers, almost, with speed/contrast paints. #WSSAdvent24 #wargaming
Well, there's your colour! After all the brown I had to finally do uniforms. It brightens up the lot a bit. Finally could spend a couple of hours and mostly done blocking colours now #wssadvent24
Chris: Chris has now got the blocking done on his war hounds. With the sole exception of the metallic silver, everything else has been done with Citadel Contrast Paints... the next stages may prove slightly more challenging! #WSSAdvent24 #wargaming
Jasper: I find there's always a period while painting a unit that you need to tell yourself 'trust the process'. I think I'm there now, while trying to paint from the inside out. At least I'm making good progress. #WSSAdvent24 #wargaming
