He already knew he liked buying things for Zhongli, but this feels different somehow, in a way he doesn’t know how to put a name to. Zhongli inspires that dilemma in him far too often. “Wow, they weren’t kidding,” he says instead of answering, wiping his mouth with the back of his gloved hand. “This wine really is good. Um. Shit, I wasn’t thinking. I can open the other bottle for you.” “Nonsense,” Zhongli says. “I’m not too proud to share a bottle with a friend.” He’s still holding the gift box, clutching it close to his chest as he reaches out to pluck the bottle from Childe’s grip and take a tidy swig of his own. Childe watches his throat bob as he swallows and wonders how he’s going to survive this.

Childe intends to get to the bottom of the situation, but everything changes when Zhongli reveals the likely motive behind his nightly wanderings. Childe knows he shouldn't fuck Zhongli in his sleep. He really shouldn't. But when has he ever been sensible?
