Zeba Indian United Methodist Church | Northern Michigan History In 1832 Shaw-wun-dais (“sultry heat”) better known as John Sunday headed west to Kewawenon (Keweenaw Bay).

In the early 19th century Methodism was not practiced west of Sault Ste. Marie. In 1832 John Sunday (Shaw-wun-dais) became a missionary and went to Kewawenon (Keweenaw Bay) to the town of Zeba. There he educated other natives about Christianity.
