Getting back to that tricky configuration; I found the .ADF files at www.ardent-tool.com (as usual, thank you!) and the adapter installed ok. But in setting up my #zuluscsi the SCSI BIOS wouldn't see any disks. Thanks to a video from www.youtube.com/@Epictronics1, I found my first clue. 3/8

Picture of a Sun SPARCstation 1 booting SunOS 4.1.3

I've recently been experimenting with older OS's on my SPARCstation 1 to try to understand what these machines were like at their time of release (hint: they were great), and I got SunOS 4.1.3 booting on it with the help of a #ZuluSCSI. 5/7

Picked up a ZuluSCSI drive emulator from Alex at Rabbit Hole Computing. I felt bad because I have been using his competitor’s device. Happy to have this! #vcfwest #zuluscsi

I started the day with a brand-new ZuluSCSI board and a questionable hard drive I wanted to archive. I ended the day with a smoke-filled lab and a seemingly dead Zulu. Also the source of the smoke, on closer inspection, seems to be a bodge PCB attached to the drive? #wtf #commodore #amiga #zuluscsi

this is where the magic happens!! 😈

speccies:

powermac 7600/120 with 256mb RAM running #MacOS 9.0, OS 8.6, OS 7.6 using #ZuluSCSI by #rabbitholecomputing (9.0 and 8.6) + a normal scsi drive (7.6)

i use #sheepshaver and sometimes #basiliskii to install stuff on the 9.0 and 8.6 img files!!
