A black-and-white portrait of We'Wha, a Zuni native dressed in traditional garb. They are standing erect in front of a dark curtain, wearing a long dress-like garment that covers one shoulder and extends down to the ankles. The upper and lower portions of the garments have traditional geometric Native designs, while the majority of the garment is undecorated. Their hair is gathered tightly around their head with a bun on each side above the ears. They are staring intently at the camera.

In the late 19th century, photographer John Karl Hillers made this simple portrait of We'Wha, a Zuni lhamana or two-spirit person, who, while appearing male, take on social and ceremonial roles usually performed by women.
