As good as this review is (as always), the first two lines are the crux.
Liverpool needed to put the ball in the net and discuss the options later last year, just as they did tonight. And in a lot of games this season in which they veered from merely okay to poor but had decent chances.

Enjoyed the performance while the tie was live but its a big problem now its settled.
Its a problem for the players because it shows they can produce good intensity on a short turnaround.

I wanted to see fight and effort tonight and we got that, but our quality in the final third is simply not good enough. How many shots did they have from the edge of the box compared to us. We couldn't hit a barn door. #lfc
