Just a reminder that racism, hate and misogyny, are the main reasons why we don't have a Kamala Harris or Hillary Clinton Presidency.
The only thing that should control your reading list is your inability to stop buying books.
Stop the Federal Book Ban Bill.

All together, as friends, they come and go
We stand in streams of water and circle around the sun

18 years in Congress should result in a long list of major achievements, and Wittman touts several. Looking at these, we can ask: has Rob been good for #VA01?
Our latest Myth of the Week shows how Rob Wittman has gotten far more from VA01 than we have from him.
DHS has now been shut down for 59 days – the longest funding lapse in U.S. history.
The House returns from its two-week recess this week and Republicans are still refusing to bring the Senate-passed bill to fund the law-abiding parts of DHS to the floor.

We’ve all heard the inflated claims of voting fraud and unfounded issues with mail-in ballots. The New York Times explored a number of these claims and did the fact-checking we all need finding little evidence to support them. Gift article: www.nytimes.com/2026/04/07/u... @lwvus.bsky.social

In Chaucer’s mind, the actual Fool’s day was May 2nd, when England’s King, Richard II, got engaged to the Bohemian, Anne of Luxemburg. In Chaucer’s mind, Richard was the Fool.
But this day has more than one origin story. In 1582, France switched from the Julian to the Gregorian calendar. This change moved the start of the year from March to January 1st. So, those who still celebrated New Year’s in March were roundly ridiculed and had a paper fish put on their back. These people were called “poisson d’avril” or April’s fish, which suggested being young, easily caught, and stinking from the head.
April Fool’s Day may have roots in Ancient Rome, where some people put on costumes and mocked others on the street. In Scotland, April Fool’s is a two-day affair. The first is often called Hunting the Gowk, or being sent on a wild cuckoo chase. The second part, known as Taillie Day, involves putting derogatory signs on the seats of other people’s pants.
It seems fitting that simply describing the origins of April Fool’s Day sounds like an April Fool’s Day joke, which might be the best April Fool’s Day joke.
Happy April Fool’s Day!
Foolishness in April first appeared in print in Geoffrey Chaucer’s 'Canterbury Tales,' circa 1470s. But some historians now believe a printer's error gave us the wrong date.

She wrote a 300-page essay titled “The Poor Woman in the 19th Century: Female Conditions and Resources.” It documented women’s exclusion from educational and professional opportunities in France. Daubié's essay earned her a seat in the Imperial Academy of Science and Fine Letters of Lyon. After earning her degree and throughout her career, Daubié continued writing about the inequality that women faced.

His love for words and their usage – from the colloquial to the formal – and his keen perceptions coalesced in his writing. Frost could begin poems with evocative descriptions of an idyllic New England landscape and end them with revelations on the meaning of life. And he did like poetry’s traditional structures of rhyme and meter. When asked about free verse, Frost said it was like playing tennis without a net.

“A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness.”
