Yes I’ve been working on this! “Good job” is so inherent for me. I’ve been looking for ways to be more direct with my feedback. This article focuses on distance learning but is very transferable to in person instruction!

I just can't imagine ever *not* reading entire books with kids.
Part of the goal of English class is to fall in love with reading. How do you do that without reading the whole book?
Educators often forget about or neglect fluency which is a necessary bridge to comprehension. My curriculum & assessment prof told us he made it to 5th grade before his teachers realized he was illiterate. He could decode words but not understand them. So many kids slip through the cracks!
I think instilling a love of reading young by reading to kids and modeling good reading for them is important. My hunch is that many struggle with fluency/comprehension and are ashamed about their reading abilities. My 4th grade teacher read 25+ books to us that year. I’ll never forget that. #bfc530
Perfect illustration of the difference between "schooling" and learning. Learning is rooted in experiences. Schooling is about discrete tasks to pass an assessment. Students are starved for experiences. We should give them to them.
my main thought on this is that yes it’s true & also, literacy rates connect directly to the lack of media literacy we are currently seeing in much of our country’s population. Comprehension is such an important part of being able to read!!
Would love a follow back! I’m a former pre-K teacher who is currently student teaching in early elementary classrooms. I’m passionate about teaching in ways that are equitable. My current assignment is at a Title One school and I adore my placement there!

Hey educators 🗣️🗣️ remember Thanksgiving week is next week! So...relax and give your babies the best week they've had in a while.
So many answers to give! But I think mine is basic: any Frog and Toad book. Any Arnold Lobel book, period. I have a special place in my heart for Mouse Soup :)
I have no idea what was linked here or how I did it. But ignore it please 😂
#BFC530 my perspective is that, when we force students who don’t already have a love of reading to read, we are actually sowing resentment. I’m not saying they shouldn’t be reading, because they should. It must be required; but maybe releasing some of the pressure on them when it comes to reading.
Currently developing a math skills assessment for a second grader in Maryland. I have 1:1 correspondence, number sense, parts and wholes, place value, skip counting, fact fluency, word problems and word problems with money, telling time, and shapes. What other skills should I be assessing? #EduSky
glad to be here!

Hi fellow horror fan! This is what I’m trying to figure out. Idk if it’s the political climate or the actual weather outside, but I’m feeling the bookworm itch lately!
