I played Farkle growing up … I forgot about that. #bfc530

I grew up playing those games … we played the card games Rook and Spades … kids these days play Uno. So many digital options but playing board games is like reading an actual book … there is something different when you hold it in your hand. #bfc530

People do play board games, just not as much as we did, perhaps. Growing up we had epic games of Risk, Stratego, and of course Monopoly. Milles Bornes was the family card game. My adult daughter and her friends play multiple versions of Monopoly. #bfc530

Pinocle is a favorite here too! However, we've been playing a fair amount of Uno as part of my mother in-law's rehab to regain dexterity in her right hand. #bfc530

Yes, my family will play board games on occasion. Our favorites are Big Boggle, Scrabble and Farkel. We’ve also done some murder mystery’s in a box, they are fun! Pinochle is our card game of choice. I definitely think card and board games are more social than digital games #bfc530

June 16th 😕. We have one more week of instruction (but seniors are done on Monday). Once summer starts, I won’t be up at 5:30 but I’ll try to check in on occasion! #bfc530

I remember growing up it seemed like everyone played games. Were physical games replaced by digital games? Are they better?

My contract ends on June 9th with a 4 hour safety training. Lots of half days for the charter schools ending June 6th and public districts ending on the 16th #bfc530

Science Olympiad! We had an amazing team a few years ago. This last year we only had 1 student show interest! This,combined with an increase in fees resulted in no team at all. We are trying again this year! #bfc530

Those positive communications home go far … I like to take pictures of the kids doing work in class and texting it to parents… especially if it is project based. Parents like getting messages about their kids actually enjoying school. But, like you, it is hard to fit in . #bfc530

Yes, this 💯. I’m an experienced teacher, I generally have 0 discipline issues. A few years ago I had a very disruptive student, I was told this, it was insulting. Later, I found out I was the only teacher making him stay in class. All his other teachers were letting him wander the building. #bfc530

I always feel like I could communicate more with parents. Especially when students do something well in class. It is always the last thing on my list and I seem to frequently not get to it. #bfc530

Something I wish I did, but didn’t … History Fair with the students … we started it but then got hit with a couple
If hurricanes and missed school so it got lost in the missed school days. I love doing that project with the kids. #bfc530

With the end of the school year here (or near) let’s talk “regret” … what is something you wish you could have done but didn’t?

Admin telling us that we just need to build a relationship with a student, right when they’re disrupting every class they’re in DOES drive me a little nuts. #bfc530

Two things, “Those who can’t teach” and “Good teachers are born not made” people think that because the spend 12 years of their life with teachers they are experts and this minimizes the skill involve. The second quote also minimizes the skill that good teaching takes. #bfc530

OMG … yes … a crazy narrative created by people hell bent on making schools look inept #bfc530

One thing that bothers me is when people use the phrase “do it for the students” as a tool of manipulation … usually when they are adding something else to our teaching plate.
