Good news is that you only need that badge one day this week!
Excited to share that my thesis work is now published in @jci.org

Thanks to the Editors @aga-cmgh.bsky.social for providing me with a new opportunity and outlet to support the next generation in #GIresearch. As the editor for Training, Education and Mentoring (TEAM) section, we’ll focus on how to help our trainees succeed during these challenging times.
Excited to see new scientific leadership @apsphysiology.bsky.social and to work with our new CEO, Erika Shugart, to promote #physiology advocacy and funding!

Here’s a quick way to make sure that your elected representatives know to NOT to support multiyear NIH funding which will significantly reduce the number of new grants supported each year.
Three professionals in conversation at a conference with a sign announcing late-breaking abstract submissions due February 2.
Did you have a delay in funding or other circumstances outside your control that made you miss the #APS2026 abstract deadline? If so, you can submit a late-breaking abstract now through Feb. 2. We want to see you in Minneapolis! https://ow.ly/B2UQ50XU79w #WeArePhysiology #ProfDev 🧪

normally I’m team gdIFN, but @tingtingli1.bsky.social is dragging me kicking and screaming toward gd17s 🙄
#gd2027 is in Wrocław, Poland. Is this a gd17 🦌vs gdIFN 🦏 matchup? #gdTcells @forum-gd.bsky.social

Do you have exciting data to share but it wasn't in time for the #APS2026 abstract deadline (or you received a JIT and will have $$ to travel)? Late-breaking abstract submission is open through Feb 2. Accepted late-breaking abstracts will be scheduled for posters. See you in Minneapolis! #Gastrosky
Moral of the story: If your data take you to the magical land of #gdTcells and you're not an expert, reach out to a #gdTcell afficionado. We're a pretty friendly bunch with a great monthly #gdTcellclub webinar + biannual meeting (Poland 2027!). Find us here: @forum-gd.bsky.social
/✌️2025
While there remains a lot to be learned about the respective roles for #gd17 and #gdIFN LPLs in intestinal inflammation, we explain why it's important not to lump all #gdTcells together. There's a learning curve to working with #unconventionalTcells, but the tools and knowledge exist 4/n
In this scenario, we don't know if the effect of the microbiota alters the gd IEL compartment, which are IFNg-producing and largely protective in IBD, or alternatively, if commensals regulate IL-17- and/or IFNg-producing gd LPLs. 3/n
This is particularly important to consider when investigating the role of the microbiota in #IBD. Historically, a gdTcell-deficient mice have been used in experimental colitis models to show that commensals have an effect on #gdTcells and vice versa. 2/n
We close out 2025 with a review by @ananya-p.bsky.social & @tingtingli1.bsky.social in @gutmicrobes.bsky.social discussing the influence of the #microbiota on #gdTcell compartments within the gut, since populations and function differ in the #epithelium and lamina propria. 1/n
How has that become part of your lexicon when neither of us are of a generation that ever saw an actual pink sheet?!
Keep in mind that if it was reviewed as part of the fall cycle and the discussion line was dropped from 50% to 30%, you probably broke even.
Congrats! Can’t wait to read it.
Petition for a NY Biomedical Institute. This is a no-brainer to support science in NY, similar to programs in CA/TX.

Did you know #physiology research made GLP-1 drugs possible? Decades before they were household names, scientists studying gut-brain signaling—and even Gila-monster venom—unlocked how the body regulates energy and appetite. 🧪

It’s a #gdTcell flavored #MucosalMonday! @saraalonsomera.bsky.social & I chat about the magic of our favorite cell type and our recent paper elucidating the role of the microbiota in driving gd IEL regulatory function on this month’s @societymucosalimm.bsky.social podcast.
@sinaiimmuno.bsky.social
Congrats!🎉
@repdangoldman.bsky.social, please draw attention to & speak up against political appointees in place of civil servants for #NIH Institute Directors. This is just the next tactic to prevent us from making advances and curing disease. #standupforscience
