The analyses revealed no significant effects of social media abstinence interventions on positive affect, negative affect, or life satisfaction. Relationships between social media abstinence duration and the three outcomes were also non-significant.

“The oft repeated call for "teacher autonomy" confuses licence with liberty. Autonomy in teaching cannot mean doing whatever irrespective of outcomes. Professionals are accountable to something larger. In medicine, law, or aviation, practice is bounded by evidence. Why should education be exempt?”
Whether they can eat in a restaurant should they be alive and legally not imprisoned? Yes. Unless a court judges that the punishment is an effective ban from doing eating out.
The science of learning, drawing from cog psy, neuroscience, education, and design, offers probabilistic insights into effective instructional strategies. It is wrong when ideologies are misrepresenting the science as dogmatic or ignoring evidence.

As much as I dislike the politics and fearmongering of Tommy Robinson, the law should protect the rights of all customers to be served regardless of their beliefs. If not, this will be, especially when an "anti-estamblishment" party rules, a very slippery slope. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
“Our findings indicate that over-reliance stemming from ethical issues of AI impacts cognitive abilities, as individuals increasingly favor fast and optimal solutions over slow ones constrained by practicality.”

The other big news out of government today is the publication of the interim report of the Curriculum and Assessment Review of education in England.
The report suggests 'evolution' not 'revolution' of current systems and identifies 4 areas for more work:

This is the great discovery of the conflict entrepreneurs, led by Musk himself: what counts in politics is not how well people are doing, but how well they are doing in relation to designated out-groups.

I strongly hope the EU will use the full force of the Digital Services Act to dismiss Meta's invitation on its platforms to label people with different sexual orientations or genders as "mentally ill". At no point in history has unfounded hatred via dehumanising labels helped social cohesion.
If they haven't reported it, you'd have people asking the opposite. I suppose they've been receiving a lot via email that they've publicised, and this is the kind of content members of the public are understandably most empathetic about.
Seeing the growing failure of health service provision, it's not enough for politicians to be "ashamed". The Labour gov should bring in emergency legislature, utilise the private sector or deploy the army. It cannot be more evident the crisis is costing peoples' lives.. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
When terminal illness dramatically reduces your life choices, it's good that this Bill recognises one choice that some wish to take. Making the informed, conscious decision, or being aware of its availability, may bring comfort to people who wish to stay in charge. www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/c9...

The abstract of the publication, which reads: While it is well-established that disability reduces the probability of electoral turnout, far less is known about the relationship between disability and support for particular political parties. Using nationally representative longitudinal data from Understanding Society we explore the relationship between disability and party support in England and Wales along left-right and protest dimensions. Consistent with our hypotheses, analysis of cross-sectional data suggests that, after accounting for demographic characteristics, disabled people are significantly less likely to support parties to the right and more likely to support protest parties. In contrast, however, after accounting for time invariant individual unobserved heterogeneity using panel data methods, we find no evidence of a relationship between disability and left-right party support, and far less evidence of a relationship with protest parties. We discuss and attempt to reconcile these findings.
