Well, you can at any time go to Settings and change the tileset to one that doesn't have the letters/numbers. Not an in-game toggle though.

If I added a toggle that would hide Fu, Han, and final point values on the score summary panel until the blanks were tapped on... would anyone use it?

Thinking it might be a way to help learn and memorize scoring themselves.

"Goto your Steam™ library

Leave a review for a smaller game you like

Now tell me what it was"

There's a very crudely drawn Steam logo in the middle. In the bottom right, there's an even crudely-er drawn frog, and the sideways text reads "I am a graphic design terrorist"

With regards to that last repost, reviews can mean a lot to smaller developers, so I'm gonna put out a little call to action. Everyone following me? DO THIS NOW! I'm asking for replies so more folks pick this up, and continue it. Please take this graphic and ask your followers to do the same!

It's nice to get good reviews on mobile platforms, too. :)

(So, err... if you have @kemonomahjong.bsky.social on iOS or Android... I'd certainly appreciate some...) ;^)

Kinda curious to know what a "stripped down, limited gameplay" version of my game might be. Maybe one hand (instead of a full match)... no character unlocks, limited to 3 CPU characters?

Just enough to say "look, there is a complete game here, please play to unlock it"?

It's kinda tempting to release a "free" (but very limited) version of my game, with a separate payment option that charges (far) less to unlock full functionality.

Of course, I'd rather the 30% "platform tax" be drastically reduced, as it's damaging gaming.

The $60 Billion Gaming Scam Nobody Talks About
The $60 Billion Gaming Scam Nobody Talks About YouTube video by mrixrt

The "Apple, Google, and Steam take 30% of all my sales for basically doing nothing" thing is incredibly frustrating. (Apple is even worse because they demand yearly fees just for the privilege of continuing to host my apps)

In a world of ~$1000 consoles, and ad-infested, IAP-heavy mobile games... you can still get countless hours of gameplay without ads or additional purchases from Kemono Mahjong - on mobile platforms or Steam, for just $3-6. :)

The iOS & Android versions are not on sale - sorry - but... they're already cheap, and offer the same functionality as the Steam/PC version, and you can take it on the go. :)

The iOS version can also be played in full screen on a Mac.

A winning hand has to have a yaku, and careless claims can make it difficult to get one.

1 month ago 0 1 0 0

Japanese mahjong? Often a good strategy to begin with is to keep your hand "closed" and go for a Riichi declaration... don't call chi or pon, unless it grants you a "yaku" (eg. A pon of dragons, the round wind, or your seat wind).

Cool project I wanted to share - they're hoping to start a kickstarter next week to help with the initial order cost (100 units)

It's a digital compass (sits in the middle of the table) that can aid with scoring and tracking riichi/honba.

Please give it a look. :)

There are many variants of mahjong. See if you can find a local group and learn the variant they're using.

Most are much like Rummy or Rummikub, though... just with additional rules about what constitutes a winning hand.

If you're interested in Japanese style, my app has tutorials and offline play

I'd like to suggest @kemonomahjong.bsky.social if you're at all interested in learning or playing Riichi (Japanese) mahjong. :)

No ads, no gatcha, no IAP... just the game. :)

This update is rolling out for iOS and Android now, too.

1.51.00 is rolling out for Steam now; I'll be preparing iOS and Android builds shortly.

This build should be rolling out now for iOS...

2 months ago 4 1 0 0

For those still on iOS 15-17... I've submitted a new build to Apple, and hopefully they'll approve it soon. This should restore basic gameplay... sorry for the issue.

I'll be supporting iOS 18+ going forward, but I wanted to ensure there's still a version that works on older OS's...

I hang out with so many game devs and marketeers that I always (mistakenly) assume this is common knowledge. If you want to do a gamedev a gigantic favor that costs you literally nothing but 3min of your time, write them a Steam review. ESPECIALLY if they have less than 500 or so.

The updated iOS version has been approved and is rolling out now, too. :)

New build (1.50.31) is out now for Steam (Win/Linux) and Android, and is currently being reviewed by Apple - hopefully will be approved soon.

If you're running Android 8.x or 9, you should get 1.49.00, which should launch correctly again.

Fresh *builds*. Not bulls. Sorry Farley.

2 months ago 16 1 1 0

Sorry for server issues; I've figured out what was going on, and have corrected it now (hopefully!). I'll make fresh bulls for the various platforms shortly, too.

There might be an issue with the new update and devices running Android 8.x... :/

Hopefully not affecting many, but I am investigating and will try to get a fix out soon, anyway.

Hmm. Thanks... I'll try to figure out what might be going on.

Oh... might be an Android phone?
