No live organism can continue for long to exist sanely under conditions of absolute reality; even larks and katydids are supposed, by some, to dream. 2026, not sane, stood by itself against its hills, holding darkness within; it had stood so for eighty years and might stand for eighty more.

“If you give ppl UBI, everyone’s just going to be making pots or painting or something!”
Good!! Good! Can’t express how much more I want to fill my home with pots and paintings than with a stovetop that inexplicably connects to the internet.
"Is it realistic that practically everyone in this small seaside town is queer?"
We don't do realism here, you're looking for that shelf over there
Viral photo from some years back of a man nonchalantly mowing his yard with a tornado on the horizon .
How it feels doing literally any task right now.
This book isn’t going to write itself, especially not if I’m glued to the timeline, so I’m going to go try to write some happy fluffy joy (with dragons!).
everything about us and the earth and the entire universe is so lovely and precious and i have such profound hate for everyone threatening that
Saying goodbye to Amazon exclusivity is a complicated thing. I'll miss the free promotion. I won't miss being able to tell (from daily page counts) when someone DNFs. 🙃

Also, my sexy Frankenstein book, The Mad Scientist & Her Monster, will leave KU a few days later, on Thursday, April 16th.
It's sequel, The Mad Scientist & Her Ghost, will be on there for a couple more months yet.
FYI, my sexy Dracula book, Getting Her Laid To Rest, will be leaving Kindle Unlimited forever next Sunday, April 12th. So if you're a KU person, read it and/or reread it now while you still can!

I Work Very Hard, And I Would Like To Try Cake By A Horse Hello. I am a horse. I work very hard at my job of being a horse. When humans say move the heavy thing, I move the heavy thing. When humans sit on top of me and pull on my head, I carry them where they want to go. The main food the humans give me is hay and oats. But I am thinking it would be nice to have a different food. I am thinking I would like to try cake. Yes, yes. Cake. I know all about it. When humans eat cake, it is in glad times. It is the food for a celebration, such as when a woman becomes 47. I have seen cake on the Fourth of July. When humans have a cake, they stand around it and clap hands and smile and say happy birthday at each other. Sometimes there are beautiful markings on a cake, such as balloons or a pink shape. Sometimes the top of a cake is on fire and a boy must blow on the fire with mouth wind. This is the scariest cake. I do not want this kind. But I will eat any other cake. Any cake that is not the fire cake that tries to kill the boy. Please understand: I do not get money for doing work. I do not get to go inside the house. All I am either doing my horse job or standing in my pen or eating food off the floor. I always do these things. But I have never once gotten cake and I would like it very much. I have noticed that human children get to eat cake. But I am bigger than the children. I am more helpful to the farm. Children do not move the heavy things like me or let anyone ride on them. And yet they get cake. Maybe the humans will realize this. Maybe they will say, "You know who deserves cake? That horse. That horse whose back we are always on." Every day I dream about what it will be like if I get to eat cake. Here is what will happen. First, I will walk to the cake and putt my nose at it like hrrfff to make and stomping my hooves to make sure it is not a snake. Then I will trot in a circle to show that I am a horse and I am large. After that, I will nuzzle the cake to …
The horse op-ed is an instant classic. I can't tell you how much joy this piece gives me.
It should be taught in every introductory writing class in no small part because the horse arguments are so compelling. "I have noticed that human children get to eat cake. But I am bigger than the children."
You BETTER write the book you wanna read. Because you're gonna have to read is twenty seven THOUSAND TIMES.
No one cares about your ideas oh my godddd the only thing interesting about an IDEA is its EXECUTION. Get over yourself.
I hate that we’re at a place where I have to look at book covers for obvious AI tells, like an alphabet board with “GUHIJJ” in the background, because I’m pretty bad at recognizing illustrated AI art, and I never want to give authors who use AI my money or time.
This is the worst timeline. :(
For #FridayFling, a snippet from The Mad Scientist & Her Ghost in which Isadora Frankenstein has wrong opinions about puns.

His gaze flickered over me and seemed to snag on my breeches. I had nice legs—strong and muscled—and he seemed fascinated by the taut gold cloth covering them. I was so, so tempted to turn around and pretend to pick something up off the floor because I knew that these particular breeches did incredible things for my ass, but I restrained myself with a silent admonishment to behave.
Today’s #FridayFling snippet is from CHAOS REIGNING!
The youngest von Hasenberg sister is more than meets the eye, and she’s happy to torment the man her sister assigned as her unwanted bodyguard—and fake date.
This week’s prompt is “fascinate.”

Promo image for The Mad Scientist & Her Ghost: A Jekyll and Hyde Romance by C.A. Cooper. Newly single college student Shelley Igor is looking forward to a chill weekend in the mountains with her two favorite friends with benefits: twisted genius Dr. Isadora Von Frankenstein, and Frankenstein’s terrifying but lovable monster, The Monster. It’ll be good to catch up, hang out, and have plenty of casual sex with no emotional complications. She’s got some fun new bondage ideas to try out, and maybe she’ll break out that schoolgirl costume the doc likes so much. It should all be a nice change of pace from serious stuff like love. But when uncanny events at Frankenstein’s secret lair spiral out of control, Igor’s in for the craziest night of her life. She’ll be so busy dealing with ghosts, evil twins, missing underwear, Frankenstein’s dead fiancée, and who knows what else, she’ll barely have any time to make new friends. On top of everything, she might end up having to confront her own inconvenient feelings for Frankenstein and The Monster, with the most inconvenient possible timing.
The Mad Scientist & Her Ghost is out now!
There's zany antics with a ghost, a Jekyll & Hyde formula, and Shelley Igor's inconvenient feelings for her friends.
It's the 2nd installment in the Isadora Frankenstein series, but you can read it as a standalone.

If there is a point to being human, it probably is something stupid like writing poems and songs. So go write your book. Do your part.

There are a lot of anticipated books coming out this year, but the second installment of Shadows Over Ravenkirk is easily the one I'm most excited about. An homage to the classic spooky soap Dark Shadows, with a sense of humor and modern sensibilities? Yes please.

And if you want to buy some fun Sexy Monster Books without using Amazon, they should be available in the wider world sometime this summer, probably? If all goes smoothly.
I've started the process of taking my books out of Kindle Unlimited so I can sell elsewhere (or maybe even do giveaways?). So if you use KU, read them while you can. My older books will be there for about a month more, and my upcoming Igor book (out 3/18! Yay!) for a few months after its release.
