Rats, I missed it. I'll have to send one in next time!
Woo hoo!! New episode! Can't wait to listen to it.
I really should go to more of those games. I imagine it's worlds cheaper, especially with the ticket cost increase for the Toronto folks this year. How much did you spend on tickets?
I'm really hopeful. I know better than to get all tied up in prospect stuff, but it's hard! I know he's had a bit of a down year, but I just feel it in my bones that he'll put it together soon.
Which game did you go to?
Mike, are you still taking listener testimonials?
Sob... Thanks for putting this out. It's the end of an era.
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 1936 COLUMBIA HEARS PLEA FOR EXPELLED STUDENT Burke and Two Other Speakers Demand His Reinstatement at Gathering of 500. Three members of the American Student Union, including Robert Burke, who was expelled in June for leading the anti-Nazi demonstration last May, addressed a gathering of 500 students of the college and the various schools of Columbia University in front of Hamilton Hall yesterday noon, appealing to them to support the youth in his to fight for reinstatement. The meeting followed the statement of the dean on Wednesday that he would not reconsider his decision against readmitting Burke to the college. Edward M. David, chairman of the American Student Union chapter, said Dr. Nicholas Murray Butler, president, had refused to interview student committees after promising to discuss the status of the Heidelberg celebration. He declared it was "this stubbornness and refusal to meet with them" which really caused the South Field demonstration last spring. James Wechsler, former editor of The Columbia Spectator and an officer of the American Student Union, stated that there were two issues involved in the case, one of academic freedom and the other of fair play. "It is very evident that this is an attempt to smash the American Student," he added. Burke, who was chosen the as president the class in '38, said in his own behalf: "It is a question whether the president, dean and trustees of Columbia will tell me what to think and do or whether I shall do what I think is right."
[CONTINUED IN NEXT PHOTO] Vandals using red paint and rolls of absorbent cotton marred the walls of John Jay Hall and South Hall, which houses the Harkness Library, on the Columbia University campus shortly before midnight last night. Except for an abandoned two-gallon can and a quantity of stained cotton, no trace of the perpetrators was found and no motive established for their sabotage. The damage was done between 11:30 P.M. and midnight, according to university authorities. Police of the West 100th Street station discovered that twenty-five painters employed by the university as a regular maintenance force had recently gone on strike but were unable to determine if the vandalism had resulted from the walkout. They were also attempting to investigate the movements of leaders in the group who held the meeting yesterday in front of Hamilton Hall to urge the reinstatement of Burke.

Great time to be hiring in academia right now for us. I hear there may be brain drain from our neighbours down south...
My faculty, @sfu-fhs.bsky.social, is hiring a tenure track assistant professor in health communication. We're open to a variety of disciplinary backgrounds. Located in metro Vancouver, Canada we have a very welcoming environment for health-related research. See here for more and please share!
Go check your smoke alarms. Even if you're pretty sure they work, and that they haven't expired, check anyway. It only takes a couple of minutes.
HFD stats say in 59% of house fires there are no working smoke alarms. #hamont

A cartoon of a ghost bike locked to a utility pole with cars whizzing by in the background and a rose on the sidewalk.
I didn’t want to draw another bike cartoon (truly) but then Doug Ford amended his anti-bike lane bill so that people riding bikes who are injured or killed on streets where bike lanes are removed can’t sue the provincial government & hold them responsible legally.
Woo hoo!!! Congratulations!!!
Excited to get my hands on this! Can't wait.
If you're comfortable, I'd love to know as well. Do you mind if I shoot you an email?
A tiny bit out of date with the new updates to the bill, but we'll have new posts soon!
Spread the word If you and your 10 friends each get 10 friends to call and they each get 5 friends to call their MPPs, that's 550 calls. There is power in numbers and change starts with you.
Implications This bill isn't just about bike lanes - it's about the provincial government undermining municipal authority. If they can override local decisions here, what's next? $75 million is at stake - funds that could tackle Ontario's healthcare crisis, improve education, or support vital community needs.
