Hey! I used to live and teach right near there in Groton at the Marine Sci Magnet HS.
Don't miss a lot about CT, but Mystic is pretty nice. 😁

I've been *pining* for my very own Mo Plushie since the very first moment I saw one. Since I can't make it to conferences generally I'm doomed to forever have a Mo shaped hole in my heart. 💔
While I have no doubt Pope Leo is subtweeting Trump here, this is pretty boilerplate biblical language that wouldn't be shocking to hear from any pope or apostle.
The fact that the Trump admin so readily takes offense to these statements is really something - just admitting they're the bad guys.
As a relatively recent heat pump owner, let me tell you they're fantastic - even up in the wintery far North Illinois.
I'd estimate we save ~$600/yr just on what we were paying for natural gas.
(it was expensive up front though - thankfully there were 0% loans and tax rebates that made it doable)
#iTeachPhysics: Small update to this simple harmonic motion sim, graphs are now big and on top of each other instead of tiny and stacked. That is all :)

Our local data center's plans sound OK - little water use, restrictions on noise, located in an area already zoned industrial, etc. Obv the center will use massive amounts of electricity so 🥴
Some loud locals want it stopped, but many use false information to argue against it, which isn't great.
...but many residents just discovered it was a thing once construction began last fall.
On the whole I feel like 1) data centers are a systemic problem, but 2) if they're going to be built they should be under strict regulations...
This is interesting as a resident of a town who has a large data center project under construction. I'm struck, however, how much shooting themselves in the feet this specific situation entails.
Our village board approved the data center a year plus ago after ~9 months of meetings...
In a plot twist, the man represents the ECONOMY and Trump isn't healing, he's draining the LIFE FORCE.
whenever people announce they're taking a break from bluesky, it's usually because they're astronauts experiencing a mandatory communications blackout as they re-enter earth's atmosphere. that's why they always come back in six minutes
Woof. Ours are up to $4.599 today, up from $4.199 yesterday.
Someone with the handle @velocity69.bsky.social is sharing a video with the caption:
"The highest quality video of the moon was just released…
so beautiful

It's gone viral, but it's not from Artemis II. If you've shared it, you might want to un-share.

Love that @ewstats.com is the first place I saw the issue had been cleared. 😂🙌
This is my favorite climate change chart. Japanese monks, aristocrats, and emperors kept meticulous records of cherry blossom festivals for 1,200 years and accidentally built the world's longest climate dataset.
Here's an air capacitor, an air battery (bike pump), and a switch (valve). You can see the capacitor charging and discharging, and most students agree no air passes through the rubber membrane of the air capacitor. #iteachphysics
But it's so much *work* to have to talk about this stuff. Isn't it just easier to spend 30-40 hours creating a complex tracking system that consumed 100 gallons of water and a year's worth of electricity?

Me grading an AP Physics experimental design FRQ and a student earns 5 out of 6 points but their actual experiment would be a disaster.
