👏 Canada 👏 Post 👏 is 👏 a 👏 public 👏 service 👏

Nothing proves how capitalism has brain rotted everyone than thinking the post office, hospitals, public transit, libraries, etc. need to turn a profit to be worthwhile.

Nova Scotia's provincewide ban on entering the woods was unreasonable, court rules | CBC News A Nova Scotia Supreme Court judge says the provincial government made an unreasonable decision last year when it banned most people from entering the woods to prevent wildfires during an extreme droug...

"The issue here is not the balancing of community safety and individual rights. It is about the decision-making process."

Another example that this NS government makes decisions that they never expect to be held accountable for, which is terrifying.

Not sure increasing the demand for gas while there are supply issues is a good solution.

Carney temporarily suspending federal fuel excise tax on gas, diesel and aviation fuel | CBC News A day after sweeping three byelections in Ontario and Quebec that gave him a majority in the House of Commons, Prime Minister Mark Carney says he is temporarily removing the federal excise tax on gas ...

Today's announcement by @mark-carney.bsky.social to suspend the 10c federal fuel excise tax until Labour Day is wrong as it's really a subsidy for drivers. Instead, Carney & his #LPC government need to aggressively push for alternatives to driving. #cdnpoli #ONpoli #TOpoli www.cbc.ca/news/politic...

Orban's inability to prevent last year's Pride protests—attended by 300k despite being banned—was a turning point in his authoritarian grip of the country.

Queer people are always leading the fight against authoritarianism, as we are often its first targets. Never cower to fear.

An Animorphs series is announced on Good Friday?

Animorphs occupies such a fun cultural space because people who didn't read them are like "that series that every classroom had a million of where kids turn into animals?" and people who did are like "hey do you want a list of passages that have haunted me for twenty years? I can read them for you"

Letter in the Toronto Star - April 2, 2026

Canada is decades overdue for high-speed rail

Pierre Poilievre says he would cancel high-speed rail line between Toronto and Quebec City, March 31

By calling for the scrapping of high-speed rail, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is saying he is fine with Canada remaining an international embarrassment when it comes to transportation. Not only is Canada the only G7 country that doesn’t have high speed rail, but even lower income countries such as Morocco and Uzbekistan are ahead of us on this file.

Having ridden high-speed rail in several countries, I know not only is it more environmentally friendly than air travel, but also more convenient. This is especially true for trips under 500 km given train stations are often closer to downtowns and don’t require passengers to be one to three hours early as airports do.

While there are undoubtedly some concerns that need to be addressed, the fact remains Canada is decades overdue for high-speed rail! It’s time we catch up to the rest of the world and get this thing built.
