Your review is both painful and accurate. Damn you!
(but also thanks for your time and effort...I know that constructive [scathing] criticism takes time π)

Interesting experience using VIC Virtual ED at 3am... Nice service to have. My nurse listened to me but she clearly wasn't up to date on asthma management which is a bit bad when it's one of the conditions they recommend you use it for.

I can't believe I'm sick again for the THIRD time in like a month dsfadgjlk I am so over it
I know a lot of researchers who should know AAT exists. βA disabled-led, unapologetically intersectional transcription and closed captioning social enterprise offering transcription support for researchers, by researchers.β
Someone used it for a project I was involved in. I'll be honest, yes, it can sometimes find papers humans might miss, but it's incredibly bland in terms of output.
Professor John-Paul Taylor, professor of Translational Dementia Research, Newcastle βThis award reflects the power of sustained team science - built on the vision of early pioneers and driven forward by the creativity and commitment of todayβs clinicians and researchers at Newcastle University.π
Replace 'job' with grant and it's not all that different either π£
Ummm... Excuse me, can I help you find something?
Well when I spotted this clip in the #ADRF2025 highlights video by ADNeT, I couldn't resist turning it into a gif π If you're presenting a poster at #ADRF2026 you've gotta manifest this energy!! Many fab dementia researchers in this highlights video, check it out! #AcademicSky

You donβt see #VisionResearch. But it sees you. Most of us donβt think about vision research. But millions live every day with the impact of itβwhen itβs there, and when itβs not. https://bit.ly/4qAuCst

This reminds me of a recent lecture by @carlrmay.bsky.social in which he highlighted the transfer of #labour from #healthcare services to care recipients and families.
If we designed and resourced services better would care navigation be necessary?

Results of the Australian university census on staff wellbeing. All universities recorded high or very high risk psychosocial climates. 76% of university staff reported high- to very high-risk levels of psychosocial safety: more than double the general workforce. #AcademicSky #AcademicMentalHealth
Ngl I do kinda love it when you come across really elegant papers like these - I was reading one from the DeAngelis lab just the other day
pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/41469395/ just a nicely done experiment
Pahahahaha
Admittedly I'm still citing Robert Hess' 1978 amblyopia gratings drawing paper π
Took me months to get it back when I was doing my PhD, gotta milk it for every ounce of value!!
My very earnest student told me last week that she couldn't believe I was turning 40 this year and thought I was younger. I guess sometimes you just gotta take that W on the chin π
What's the word? Rekt β οΈ Kids are brutal.
I remember my mum going to have her hair done and she got it dyed a bit and both me and my bro were like omg why we liked it how it was with the lighter bits in it, couldn't understand why she got mad. The lighter bits were grey π We were like 12? Savage.
Ahhh yes the roulette of "is the smart gate going to randomly hate on my particular passport/face for no real reason?"
Glad you made it in one piece!
Ahh yes, the eternal wait for baggage at Melbourne Airport is certainly the reality check nobody wanted π£ Welcome back!
My friend saw him live in Melbourne recently. He complained. A lot.
Ugh, bossman said to me a few days ago that I should apply for some grants this year like NHMRC - he is right but also ugh π£
Every NHMRC EL Investigator grant workshop I've been to has left me pretty depresso espresso about even trying. They're sooo hard to get and I am not a good fit. #AcademicSky
