Researchers at the VIB–KU Leuven Center for Cancer Biology, an EARA Member, have been able to reduce the spread of #cancer from other organs to the lungs, in studies using #mice.

Let's celebrate #BrainAwarenessWeek by making brain science feel more human.
Neuroscientists: introduce yourself below!
If you’re not a neuroscientist: give them a wave and ask a question!
Hi from a Lab animal vet in Canada! Are their brain regions more sensitive to inflammation than others? I know metabolic rate and possibility of generating new neurons varies, does that or other factors make different regions more susceptible to long term damage?
The Dijkstra lab at CMU seeks postdoctoral researchers in evolutionary biology and behavioral ecology, focusing on cichlid fishes. Apply by March 20. Info: https://sites.google.com/site/peterdijkstrausnl/home #postdoc
To recognize International Women’s Day, we've curated this collection of articles on the joys and challenges that women in research careers face – plus, some fresh approaches to women’s health research.

Major thanks to @melodyschreiber.com for interviewing me about what biology actually says about sex & gender
Unscientific attacks on trans rights are fueled by fascism, not science, and harm all of us - cis or trans

I've always wondered where I should bathe my coats!
A lovely depiction!
Fantastic example of cutting edge research probing basic questions of how the brain works. There is so much yet to learn as we gain the deep understanding of biological processes needed to keep informing medicine and technological innovation. news.westernu.ca/2025/10/sens...
Yes please to a Toronto event!
Whenever I am reminded of this I always think how we need more fundamental research on non-mammal brain structures to inform fields like neuromorphic computing and network efficiency.
The conference is next week!✨
Join us on 13–14 November for a rich two-day schedule of fascinating talks on animal behaviour 🦋🐟🐆
💻 Free, online & open to all worldwide

A petition to halt primate imports for biomedical research was launched in #Canada, based on a conflation of unproven allegations that could cost lives.🔗www.eara.eu/post/in-defence-of-life-... #NHP #research #SciencePolicy #monkey
Zara has been a friend since grad school. I can barely grasp the loss to science, her loved ones, and her communities. Her absence will be felt dearly and her memory a treasure.
Zara and I overlapped in our PhDs at Carnegie Mellon. Even so early in her career she was a vocal advocate for open science and social justice. The thought that I can never hear her thoughts on our life events again is inconceivable and devastating. Much love to all who have been touched by her.
Two #comment articles with opposite perspectives about the role of #animals in #biomedical #research have been featured in the scientific journal #Nature, fueling a polarised discourse that can confuse and misinform the public and decision-makers. #NAM #SciencePolicy

Lesbian marching with a sign that says a day without lesbians is like a day without sunshine
Happy International Lesbian Day! ☀️☀️☀️
And let's not forget the role of dogs as a lifesaving model from Anna and the first bypass shunts (exhibits.library.jhu.edu/exhibits/sho...) to contemporary imaging studies, large animal models have saved countless children and adults.
Very exciting that EARA is gaining more Canadian members!
We are pleased to welcome Western University @westernu.ca to EARA!

Better late than never!
What articles or sites would you recommend for more information on fish sentience for those who can't attend?
Thank you #CALAS for a wonderful event in beautiful British Columbia! It was great to meet peers in lab animal science and medicine from across Canada and beyond. @eara.eu is a wonderful partner I hope to hear more from!
