It's a bit late for #wildflowerhour but I saw my first Cuckoo flower of the year the other day. It made me smile.
Our Somerset Valley Rediscovered volunteers had an exciting find recently www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Purple and yellow catkins on the Snails Brook near Radstock. The photo doesn't really do it justice - particularly the Alder catkins which were a much more vivid purple in real life.

I came across a copy of Orchid Summer in a charity shop recently and absolutely loved it. It has inspired me to try and find some of the species that I haven't yet seen - a great New Year's Resolution!
Midsomer Norton Heritage Railway in the sunset. Lovely to be out walking at dusk #midsomernorton
The musicians weren't the only stars at #PriddyFolkFestival this weekend. Look at this beautiful Hummingbird Hawk Moth enjoying the verbena! Photo courtesy of my 11 year old son. #ukmoths
It's a native plant in the UK 😊. I have some on the edge of our garden pond. This year its feet are completely dry due to lack of rain and the low pond levels, but it's still thriving.
Pyramidal Orchid complete with Skipper (I'm not sure which one). Midsomer Norton Town Park #midsomernorton

There's been a mass emergence of dragonflies from the pond. 6 cases on the yellow flag. Sad that I missed it, but very happy our little pond is so wildlife rich.
A thick legged flower beetle in the garden this morning. One of my faves!
Hawthorn in the garden is humming with life. The insects are loving it!

The swallows are back!
Spring flower loveliness in Somerset. A camera shy Beefly was also around, visiting the flowers to a soundtrack of Chiffchaff.
Happy to see that this beautiful yet unassuming chapel in Walpole is getting some love. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Not a bad start to the working week!
A Red Waxcap? Found in the fields close to home. Seems to have been a good year for the waxcaps.
