Painting of a woodland carpeted with light purple blossoms

Painting of a woodland carpeted with light purple blossoms

Britain is home to almost half of the world’s bluebells, found in ancient or semi-natural woodlands, flowering in April and May. 'Bluebell woods' by contemporary UK painter Susan Entwistle #WomensArt

Violet tooth polypore mushrooms show off their shades of violet and yellow while growing from a bed of green moss. Bright green foliage fills the background. No gnomes sighted but you could smell the disgusting creatures

The horrors persist, but so do mushrooms

Oh, good to know, thanks! I do have quite a few thin cottons bought for dishcloths and stuff, and also embroidery floss.

Joining in for the first day of #pleinairapril by @warriorpainters.bsky.social

Painting outside is always a bit intimidating but I'm glad I went for it, just sat down on the roadside in between narcissus and go!

This is my favorite climate change chart. Japanese monks, aristocrats, and emperors kept meticulous records of cherry blossom festivals for 1,200 years and accidentally built the world's longest climate dataset.

Watercolour painting of different shaped and coloured leaves on a stack of paper. The leaves include: ash, apple, hawthorn, black poplar, hazel, sycamore and willow. Visible underneath the painting is a printed sheet showing a large variety of British native tree leaves.

Normally, don't work in my day job on Mondays. But when I'm asked to help out with an extracurricular art class to bring in some teaching about biodiversity, I'm all in! Here's what I painted 🍃🍁

Saying “I can’t give up Harry Potter because I am Autistic, and it my special interest” is literally using Autism as an excuse for harmful behavior towards Transgender people.

Autism/Neurodivergence isn’t a pass for bad behavior/to harm others or to be selfish.

A tree in messy black ink and watercolour, sketched with lines in varying thickness, and painted over with shades of green in the crown and shades of brown for the trunk. On top of the page, a stripe of paint is visible, with a gradient from blue to purple to red, suggesting that this is only a part of a sketchbook page.

A corner of a journal page with the Mary Oliver quote "There is only one question: How to love this world?" from the poem "Spring". There are three yellow flowers above, two from the top and a bud from the side, and grass in many different shades of green at the bottom of the page. The artwork is done in fountain pen with black ink and coloured pencils, a grass green one is also on the picture.

Another glimpse into my personal journal. While there is so much horror in the world right now, it's also spring here in the Northern Hemisphere. So I find hope in looking at these flowers, reading poems, taking the time to see the beauty and capturing some of it in my art.

Small watercolor painting of a barn owl perched on a wooden post, rendered in warm golds and soft whites with olive green background. The owl faces slightly left with detailed feather markings. Painted in a realistic style on a trading card sized piece.

Painted this barn owl on a trading card sized piece using Pentel Aquash brushes and QoR watercolors. Worked from a photo reference. Owls are magical. This series is quietly becoming one of my favorite things I make. #sciart #bird

Two abstract watercolour landscapes on A8 cards, on top of a black sketchbook cover with a small paint brush and palette in the background. The landscapes have blue - grey skies and green brown land.

Two more cards from my 100-day project. The granulation of the paints doesn't come out much on the smooth surface, but I just love doing abstract landscapes.

Sunset in light blue and orange with a yellow sunglow, photographed through several trees, so that the bare branches create a dark pattern.

Yesterday's sunset through the trees, when I had enough energy to walk for an hour. Not so lucky today, but that's why I take pictures.

watercolor painting of the Cliffs of Moher, Ireland, as seen from a boat. A large rock rises like a tower from the sea a bit away from the cliffs. Atop it sits a red dragon, which looks small in the distance. Signed Katie Croonenberghs 2020 and text in lower right www.kamakru.com

"They told me I'd see puffins, and kittiwakes and perhaps a dolphin or two, with luck. They said the sky might be clear enough to see it all, with more. But what they never thought we'd see, upon its rocky tower. Oh, our luck! Our luck! To see a dragon so close to shore."

And here's the art inspired by my photos: two 100-day project cards. Added a quote in top of my colour testing from Rest is Resistance. Not all recent days turned out so well, but I like how these two go together.
