Trader Joe's instant coffee packs have sugar/creamer layered under the coffee granules. I usually pour off the granules to make a cup I keep in the fridge for adding to my Diet Coke in the morning. Today I poured the creamer and sugar on my cornflakes which is how I know I'm living my #bestlife.

@rangedtouch.bsky.social I've been listening to Shelved By Genre and was wondering if you are aware of the Tumblr convention regarding JRR Tolkien's name? We only refer to him by his full and correct legal name which is of course Jolkien Rolkien Rolkien Tolkien. #shelvedbygenre

The heat dome over the Midwest is supposed to break today and I can't stop thinking about how the term "heat dome" sounds like it belongs in a golden age scifi thriller. Surrender or face....THE HEAT DOME.

@rangedtouch.bsky.social Listening to the latest Shelved By Genre and loving it but had to remark: Phillip K Dick wrote evocatively about masking and neurodiversity without perhaps meaning to, you say. Eloquently and hugely productively while on a drug now prescribed for ADHD, you say. Hmmm...

@wtyppod.bsky.social I'm listening to the mass transit episode and all I can think listening to Rocz's monorail monopoly rant is "A monorail is for life, not just for Christmas."

"What, you don't want to listen to your mother now?" :D

Ironically, that I should post to socmed to consult the Tribe. :D We believe the thesis to be sound that it's "a lot of discussion before you get to the recipe" though.

Conversation at tonight's Seder included the inquiry, "is Talmud the first recipe blog?" And I died laughing.

My buddy R refers to Chipotle as "Chi po-tell." He says he's bringing home two orders of Chicago's finest Potle for dinner. I hope he got me the extra cheesy Potle.

Welcoming @marcusparks.bsky.social to the "diagnosed way later than I should have been" #ADHD club. The meetings do not start on time and none of us know where our membership card is but we do have a lot of snacks.

A Junji Ito coloring book feels like a metaphysical trap of the highest order. #junjiito #shelvedbygenre #itwasmadeforme

I had to stop reading King for a while after Lisey's Story; I wasn't mad exactly, just had to reexamine my views of his work. I love a lot of his work and have read a number of his books since but always...warily.

That there's never really a question that what Scott's father did was justified was deeply upsetting, especially after Paul's death. If you read believing the magic parts aren't real, it's a brutal chronicle - it feels like something that an abuser would read and feel justified in their behavior.

I found it profoundly disturbing - I kept waiting for a reveal that Scott had turned his abusive childhood into a fairy story as a coping mechanism. I thought Lisey had bought in as a folie a deux, and there would be a reveal that Scott and Lisey were both unreliable narrators of their realities.

@ckunzelman.bsky.social @ztul.bsky.social Very much enjoyed the Lisey's Story episode that just dropped - I'd been waiting to see what you would have to say about it and enjoyed your takes. I'm about to write a damn essay about the book myself, apologies in advance...

Coming to this late but I've had very good luck with lulu.com. The only issue with selling on amazon via Lulu is that it forces a huge markup. I don't need Amazon (I'm a hobbyist) and Lulu on its own has no setup fees and is cheaper by page than most options, or was last time I shopped around.

How do people with multiple social media decide what goes where? I keep thinking I should engage more here but damned if I know what to say that I wouldn't enjoy saying more on tumblr. I got off twitter ages ago because I only used it for complaining and that was cathartic but...not productive.

Lord I hope I'm doing this correctly, I don't know what quote post is, but I am positive that Foodieverse Steve not only met the Michelin Man, Bucky dug up a photo from their childhood of Steve in costume as the Michelin Man and made Steve get it autographed.

Time to redo my website, and I'm taking the opportunity to migrate off Wordpress. Looking around at templates on other sites, it appears 99% of them are for people who wish to obfuscate what it is the site is actually about. Maybe only spies have personal websites these days.

Brb rolling up sleeves to write, not a supernatural romance, but a Fortean Affair. (After I finish the current book anyway.)

2 years ago 4 0 0 0

Was just thinking it's a shame I wrote the Cryptozoologist Romance as a short story, but I realized this morning that doesn't mean I can't write Fortean Weirdos In Love and just use the short story's events as the end of the book. It's not like we don't know where most romance novels are headed.

Googling for the novel:
-- baby gender in womb when?
-- geology southern france
-- welsh food

I have gotten the odd ad for pregnancy products due to my research on that, but I'm hoping I've now confused the algorithm into trying to sell me on some kind of wild Cardiff-to-Cannes vacation package.
