Totally! I recently picked up “The Captive of the Sahara” (1931) for the pulp art cover. It’s definitely got some Outdated Ideas, but the language is very beautiful. Today we would shelf this book next to other contemporary romance, but it stands out for its careful use of characterization.
And one (1) Francis York Morgan for the elite gamers.
Honestly, as a teen I could never draw his hair correctly. Even as an adult studying his design, it’s deceptively simple yet conveys a magnitude of volume and flow.
Shoutout to Nobuteru Yuki for being a master illustrator and character designer.
