Ahhhh I’m starting to actually write the romance between my main characters and I’m so excited. I’ve looking forward to this since I started but knew I needed to developed the characters more before I started. #amwriting #writingcommunity

I think kind of indie-pop sort of music. Some songs about unrequited love, young person angst. Bonus points if the artist is gay.

I like to get in my character’s headspace by listening to music I think she would listen to. If she were in our time and not a fictional Victorian fantasy world.

I think my favourite Ellipsus feature is that I don't have to take my hands off the keyboard to accept an autocorrect. Just pushing the up arrow and hitting enter is so much more natural. #amwriting #amnotsidetrackedbybluesky #maybe

Fish out of water is pretty fun. Digging your own grave probably not so fun. Hope she finds her way back to pavement!

A healing mage that uses her skills to torture people is a little twisted. And she enjoys her work? Sounds like an interesting character, probably not for Av’ry or Mikiva though.

Scarlett is a maid at Markham House and she is easily my most cheerful character. I would say she’s just naturally upbeat and enjoys working there. She loves talking with the other maids and Lady Violet or Ash. Her cheery attitude is contagious and Ash can’t help but smile around her.

My research seems to indicate that the bustle and hoop skirts were largely enjoyed by the women of the time. Might even go so far as to suggest that depictions of women struggling in big dresses was misogyny. Go figure.

Not me shifting the setting from 1880s to 1890s fashion because the bustle was out of style. Who would want to deal with all those layers and wearing a thing that looked like a lobster tail? #writing

When I started #writing this story I had to work to get 1500 words in a single scene. Here I am 25000 words later and I’m struggling to get to the point in less than 3000 words per scene. I wonder what that’s about?

I think I need to go back and either kill off the main character's father or use the original out that I wrote for him. He's been tagging along on their escape from the city and I don't feel like he adds anything to the plot. I actually keep forgetting he's there 😅 #writing #writingcommunity

It’s Ash’s first time using magic deliberately. Her abilities depend on being near someone who can naturally manipulate magic. Violet uses this as an opportunity to hold her hand. For some reason Ash passes out every time.

I messed up, Ash and Violet like each other too much already. Violet saved Ash’s life and now she’s showed Ash how to use magic. Might have to fix this in revisions. Really make it clear Ash isn’t interested in a relationship. Anyone else struggle with delaying romance? #writingcommunity #writesky

My characters are fleeing the city through a series of caves, ancient ruins, and sewers known as the understreets or unders. Violet has just revealed that alcohol was smuggled out of the city through the unders 100 years ago. There's just one problem. How do they know which way to go? #Writing

Thank you! The eyes belong to Violet who, while not a cat, is sneaky and can see in the dark. I guess that does makes her kind of cat like.
