It's stupid but I luckily have the storage space for it on my phone and decreases my anxiety about parking in an unknown place.

I rarely park in the city, but I have multiple parking apps on my phone for just this reason because who knows if one particular lot is gonna use ParkMobile or Passport or another.
Today the ISU judges said to every girl in the world "Don't speak up if you are assaulted. Don't speak up if you are being threatened, abused, or harassed. Not only will we not believe you, we'll give a gold medal to those who discredit you & stick by your abuser."
I listened to a story on NPR, possibly "The World" about how blind people navigate airports and the lack of accessibility both inside airplanes and in the terminals. Now I can't find it anywhere. Anyone have a beat on it?
@thestorygraph.com Disappointed in the countries for 2026's Read the World Challenge. 5 European countries but no South American or Pacific nations? Only one Asian country? I know it's only 10 countries, but I feel like there could have been more geographic diversity.
So frustrated. Professor gave me a list of 20+ sources to explore on a topic. Over half don't exist. DOI links are either to an unrelated article or don't exist. ChatGPT at work? #PhDLife
How to Hide an Empire by Daniel Immerwahr was one for me!

Friends, what's the level of formality in dress at European GLAM conferences? I am going to MTSR in Greece in December and I'm trying to figure out how fancy I should be. #archiveslife #archives #libraries #conferencss
Met with my advisor and member of my committee today. Advisor: super excited about topic, asks for her homework to help me. Other member: "Yeah, I don't think that will work. But I'm not here to tell you what to do. I'm here to listen." π #PhDLife
Update: I got the email I've been accepted! Headed to Greece for the MTSR Conference in Thessaloniki!
Totally fair! I know my anxiety is making me more impatient than I would usually be.
Conference told me they'd let me know today if my paper was accepted. How long do I give them before I politely email asking for an answer? These international flights for the week before Christmas aren't getting any cheaper! #AcademicSky #ArchivesLife
I was also going to grade too! Instead, I guess I have to work on this annotated bibliography I've been chipping away at.
We recently lost our Florida Studies Curator to a tragic death. He was working on something about Jose Gaspar and Gasparilla before his death. I hope to write my class paper on pirates and dedicate it to him.
USF Libraries is getting a copy so professors can use it!
How technical is that one? I'm debating between CILIP's MDG one in March in Bristol and MTSR in December in Thessaloniki currently. Next year thinking of Dublin Core wherever it is

My GLAM folks, what non-US conference have you found most helpful? Bonus points if it's focused on metadata. I'm weighing between a conference in Thessaloniki and one in Bristol. ππ
Probably around 5,000 words.
I have an article idea about linking between catalogs/repositories and ArchivesSpace. Problem is it's too long for Archival Outlook but going to be too short for a journal. Any ideas for places? ππ
Any of my fellow GLAM folks doing National Article Writing Month with @libwrtcoop.bsky.social? Hoping to get another idea down into a tangible form in July! π
I've started saying "Thank you for your patience" instead of "I'm sorry.." somehow it feels more empowering.
I've got an article almost ready to submit but after it was rejected very harshly the first time, I'd love for someone to take a look. Any #skystorians who do German, WW2, Soviet, or education history want to take a quick read for me?
Ooh, that's a beautiful cover. Many congrats!
Absolutely beautiful! Does Mx. Goose have a name?
Today's opinion: Simon and Garfunkel's "Sound of Silence" is one of the greatest songs of all time. What's on your list?
A summary of my reading in May 2025. 11 books, 5637 pages, Average rating 3.43 Highest rated reads were "Good Girl, Bad Blood," "As Good as Dead," and "The Island of Missing Trees." 64% was fiction, 36% nonfiction. All were digital. There's a bar graph for how many of each genre I read, as well as a line graph for how many pages I read each day.
I've been trying to read more around the world this year. In May I checked off books set in and written by authors from Cyprus, Trinidad, Iraq, and Antigua. I attempted a book from Azerbaijan but gave up about 80 pages in.
This is absolutely gorgeous!
I read Strongmen for a grad class this past fall. Highly recommend!
