This is absolutely ridiculous and disrespectful of their audience, and that's coming from someone who went to an Iron Man 1/2/Avengers/IM3 marathon.

Not just for the emotional gut-punches, but also to spend that time with PSH again (which, of course, would end up the biggest gut-punch).
When you use AI to do your writing, you are telling your audience: “I deserve your attention, but you do not deserve my effort.”
You won't believe the things they can do with Claude code nowadays.
Really glad to see the groundbreaking research by Keaton et al. (1996) get a followup here.
We're at the point where a Substack is morally equivalent to a Twitter post.
Get out of the goddamn Nazi bar.
Hard to believe ostensibly left people are still "I give creators the benefit of the doubt because Substack is easy/cheap/whatever".
No benefit of the doubt. No fucking Substacks.
Wrote that back in November so I'm happy to see "botlicker" getting its due.
Here come the botlicker
He's the chattybot clicker
Drop his prompt in a clanker
Still making that slop
Nah, na na na nah, na na na nah
Na na nah, na na nah, na na na naah
Yes, yes, CRL testing, sure.
I've lived in a lot of cities in my life, and the way AT shuts down trains would cause armed revolt in other places.
I have to assume that everyone who makes decisions at Auckland Transport is a childless 9-5 office worker who leaves town over every weekend and holiday period.
I just want to be able to occasionally take my child downtown on the train. Is that too much to ask?
Whew.
*sigh*
If your Kickstarter video/image is AI, I won't back it.
If your book has an AI cover, I won't read it.
If you're a public supporter of AI use for creative work, I will unfollow you.
I cannot stress enough how offensive I find AI use in the arts. It is outright theft, it is lazy, it is gross.
I think I went 4 times between '05 (first) and '15 (last). My GenCon decade.
Living in New York at the time, we had a great TTRPG community centered around the NerdNYC forums, but it was still hard to schedule gaming events. GenCon always kept me coming back for the promise of 4 whole days of game.
2005 was my first year going, with a bunch of the #nerdNYC crew... And I'm now realizing that was over 20 years ago.
*dissolves into dust*
I think that I sold all my AD&D stuff (including the ones you pictured, except B8) at the GenCon auction in 2005 or so. Never had the room to hold on to the old stuff that I don't play anymore.
I do miss them sometimes.
That is an ... ambitious buy now price for a red box held together with masking tape.
Impeach him anyway.
Ban this entire fucking industry.
Love love love the new Metric track
"It makes me jealous of my former self
I had to tame her for my mental health"
What AI Evangelists always miss is that we've had this model for over a century. People will ALWAYS value the handmade work of an artisan significantly more than a mass produced knock off industrialists insist is "of similar quality." We don't pay artisan prices for mass produced things...like AI.
What's even worse is when the ostensibly creative organizations like community theatres do it. Which is pretty much all the time now.
Yeah, this is the way to do it. I don't believe in vibe coding, but I do believe in vibe blocking.
Dear god I had not even considered this, the next 36 hours are going to be a nightmare.
(Tiny silver lining is that people I should block will make that obvious.)
Today is #TransDayOfVisibilty & here’s a message you can share with anybody who can’t grasp that #TransRightsAreHumanRights
It’s really not hard at all to be an ally to the communities you weren’t born into 🏳️⚧️
13. In short, all writing is political, because all writers are political, and so are all readers. We can't help ourselves in either case. It doesn't matter if you're writing a narrow polemic or an attempted blockbuster. It's okay to be comfortable with these facts; they exist even if you're not.
Christopher Walken as Bruce Dickinson on SNL. He looks speechless.
Very few things are more groan-worthy than someone with influence pretending a giant outcry is because everybody misunderstood them, instead of the simple truth that everybody understands exactly what they're selling but not wanting it.
I mean, I was in the States for Trump round 1 (not to mention Reagan and both George Bushes), but yeah this group is near the bottom of the pile.
