Granted I'm not trying to monetize my work, and I also can't afford to give $5 a month to 100 different authors I'd like to follow, so maybe I'm not Substack's target user. So far I find Patreon a lot easier to use, both to publish my own stuff and free-follow others.

I've been checking out Substack, I find as a creator and reader that it's frustrating. Many hoops to jump through (for both creator and reader) and many limitations on post formats for an ostensibly author-centric site. I wonder if any other writers feel the same.
