After 12 years of this webcomic being published online, it is finally coming to a close by the end of April. For the next couple weeks, we want to share a glimpse of our journey, the story as a whole and the joys that readers, friends and the community have given us over time. We are so grateful to be able to see a project at this scope meet its conclusion and we thank everyone for joining us! We are pausing updates from March 30th to April 12th to go over the history of GJS. and the finale will begin on April 13th, updating a page each day until the 26th, where the final page will drop. As bittersweet as it is, let’s take this time to enjoy the memories we have made in this community.

This is the text of the email I sent to the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Association regarding their choice to create a Best Comic category that honors only the people who created the script of the comic.
In comics, the art IS the writing.
Panel 1: A soul, SONDER, is escorted by two angels down an ethereal path lined with stars. They are winged and have flower blooms for heads, but otherwise look humanoid. The surrounding realm is dark and has no color. Panel 2: SONDER is sat down in an ornate chair in a large room; the space behind them is a latticed gothic wall that vaguely resembles a confessional booth. Panel 3: Upshot of the CLERK: a bespectacled, celestial deer-headed being with an imposing presence, resembling a judge with a large open book in front of them. 1. CLERK: You’ve been a tricky soul to track down. Panel 4: SONDER looks listlessly up from their chair. The CLERK remains impassive. 1. SONDER: Am I in trouble? 2. CLERK: Let’s find out. Panel 5: The stars behind the CLERK’s head take on more humanoid shapes. CLERK: 4. You see, I track every human soul that ventures too far from their bodies while dreaming, and guide them back. 5. I see everyone. I know everyone. Panel 6: A view of the CLERK’s open book. The name on the page is scrawled over and illegible. CLERK: 6. But somehow, I do not know you. I cannot discern your name, nor where you come from, nor where you go. 7. So I’m curious… who are you? Panel 7: SONDER holds their hands, makes themself small. 8. SONDER : I’m no one. 9. CLERK: Is that so? State your case. Why should I let you roam free? Panel 8: Close-up on SONDER, who looks to be dissociating. 10. SONDER: Because I’m hungry. 11. CLERK (off-panel): Hungry? For what?

Hourly Comic for 2am to 7am, and also 7:30am. In panel one, apricot is lying awake in bed, looking exhausted despite being under a cozy weighted blanket and sharing their pillow with a fluffy cat. You can just barely see the back of their partner ket's head from where he sleeps next to them. The caption begins sardonically with " 'Sleep'." "Man, I wish. Winter sucks. SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) sucks." In the second panel, apricot is still in bed but they have covered their eyes while cats yell and make various upset sounds around them. It is clearly almost time for breakfast. apricot is begging, "guys, please"
