Things suck rn, but a very small old woman in my building takes a short walk up the street to her friend's house every morning for coffee and breakfast (and gossip). She probably used to live in one of the houses close to her friend. And bc of our condo building, she's still here. #AgingInCommunity🤗

oh yes! That would work. I'll see if there are any Canadian suppliers. Thank you!

the location is near the gas meter/piping so I think their concern is being able to remove the entire rack if necessary

I have bikes-on-the-brain (TY @devanmarr.bsky.social for the bike lane appeal coverage) and need the bluesky cyclist hivemind. My condo building is replacing a broken bike rack with an equally useless rack (pictured). Suggestions for a space-constrained outdoor location? can't do posts unfortunately

Property tax data is notoriously difficult to work with when considering multiple jurisdictions let alone the whole country. Excellent data work here with really insightful findings. 🙌

A dear friend of mine (not on the socials) is researching Monsanto and found these GEMS in the archives. “They’re lean, hungry-looking bodysweaters. Pure skin stuff.” 💀

Great example of a non-land use form of option value. I value the option to *think about going to a cool kid cocktail place down the street but then ultimately rot on my couch with the dog and cat

Opinion: Canada’s outdated elevator rules are adding to the housing crisis The high cost of elevators is a barrier to the development of affordable, accessible homes

@englishrail.bsky.social and I have a piece in the Globe & Mail about how Canada can make housing more affordable and accessible, and disentangle itself from its unreliable and hostile southern neighbor: give its elevator industry the option to use the European/global standard, not just the U.S. one

I lived in the states for 10 years. Every Canada Day I would subject my friends to can-con music. “Do you know this song? No?? How do you not know this!?” It was very annoying for them. I finally put it all together in a playlist. It’s 8hrs long 🇨🇦
