The cover of "The Institutional Development of Podcasting".

The cover of "The Institutional Development of Podcasting".

A section from Chapter 1 of "The Institutional Development of Podcasting" (by Aske Kammer and Thomas Spejlborg Sejersen):
"Key questions remain, however: How exactly has podcasting changed? What has happened, why has it happened, what are the implications, and what can be learned from it? This book answers these questions, employing institutional theory as a framework for analyzing such developments.
The overall argument of the book is that while the digital economy and the digital infrastructures of platforms have colonized podcasting and transformed the institutional logics, the institutional development of podcasting is also one of stability. This implies that new actors and institutions have entered the stage and added increased complexity to the institutional field rather than replacing each other.!

OUR BOOK IS OUT!!!

It's called "The Institutional Development of #Podcasting" and is co-authored with Thomas Spejlborg Sejersen, published by Routledge.

It's been a long process. I'm happy we succeeded in getting to this point. This is a big f***ing deal.

In a nutshell, the dissertation is an investigation of anti-systemic narratives, populist movements and counterpublics in digital alternative information environments. For the empirical part, I have been focusing on four case countries (Austria, Denmark, Germany and Sweden) from 2019-2022.

The Meta Ad Library is now lagging behind 12 (!) days. It has never been this bad. Elections are going on in multiple countries including Romania, Sri Lanka, Urugay, and soon Ireland and Iceland.

Absolutely unaccepable.

The biggest and most popular algorithm on Bluesky is the default "Discover" algorithmic feed. This is Bluesky's version of an X/Elon-style top-down algorithm that shows you posts that Bsky think you’ll like. You can train it by clicking “Show more” or “Show less” in the three-dot menu.

@frederikhenriksen.bsky.social analyses anti-systemic populist movements during the Covid pandemic. Such movements rely on alternative news media to establish their own digital information environments - and these echo chambers fuel ideological partisanship

Enjoying this place so far, but still having a bit of trouble finding people to follow. Particularly interested in connecting with fellow political theorists/geographers/sociologists/anthropologists working on climate justice-related stuff. 🍃
