What has happened, why has it happened, what are the implications, and what can be learned from it? This book answers these questions, employing institutional theory as a framework for analyzing such developments. The overall argument of the book is that while the digital economy and the digital infrastructures of platforms have colonized podcasting and transformed the institutional logics, the institutional development of podcasting is also one of stability. This implies that new actors and institutions have entered the stage and added increased complexity to the institutional field rather than replacing each other.!

In a nutshell, the dissertation is an investigation of anti-systemic narratives, populist movements and counterpublics in digital alternative information environments. For the empirical part, I have been focusing on four case countries (Austria, Denmark, Germany and Sweden) from 2019-2022.

I am happy to announce that I will be defending my PhD with the title: "Burn it Down: Anti-Systemic Narratives and Counterpublics in Digital Alternative Information Environments" 🎉 🔥
