America is in desperate need of more regulation, not less. Safety regulations, environmental regulations, and price regulations. And these regulations need to be stringently enforced. Just like happens in the Netherlands this will help people and businesses will do just fine.

Government regulations also keep the price of internet service low, buses are run by private companies and provide great service, in America none of this is true. The government doesn't have to take over everything but it does have to set up rules to make sure businesses aren't ripping us off...
Medications are cheap there, because the government won't allow drug companies to over charge everyone. Health insurance is cheap (and is provided by private companies) because the government won't let insurance companies price gouge and employers HAVE to pay 1/2 the premiums...
I lived in the Netherlands for 3 years. Everyone there gets 4 weeks paid vacation by law plus another month of pay to make sure you can afford to go on vacation. The government doesn't pay for this, employers do and businesses still thrive there...
We don't know any better, our health care system sucks but we figure our's must be the best since we have always heard that we're the greatest country in the world. Our public transport sucks so in our minds it must suck everywhere. If we knew how bad we actually have it we might get louder
I'm an American but I lived in the Netherlands for 3 years. The Dutch people complained about a lot, but I never heard them complain about taxes and their taxes are much higher than we pay in the US. Amazing healthcare, low cost universities, great transportation, and other things made it worth it.
I searched for "snow lily" and the only flower that came up was one in the game World of Warcraft. So is this actually real? If so can you post the scientific name so I can find out more about it?

Black and white photo of a brick with metal screws resting on it all standing and pointing up with a section of another brick supported by the tips of the screws, on top of that sits a small orchid plant in bloom. Also rest on the first brick is a microphone with a magnifying glass in front of it. In front of all of this stands a plastic doll wearing nothing but a headband and shoes.

For over a year I have checked the news and seen story after story that seemed impossible or ridiculous. Everyday my screen has been filled with images that I immediately dismiss because they were obviously created in the fever dream of some over hyped appliance. Recently I saw a photo of Kid Rock saluting an attack helicopter as he stood next to a miniature Statue of Liberty with a swimming pool stretched out in front of him. My mind had to quickly decide if what I was seeing was more insane and impossible news or was it more AI slop being forced on me. I quickly realized that there was a third option. What I was seeing was simply the new normal, or at least what some would like to become the new normal. We are living in one of George Orwell’s nightmares, we are experiencing all of the chapters he edited out of 1984 because they were simply too unbelievable. We exist in a world where the laws of nature and chemistry and physics no longer matter if they don’t align with the political whims of a single elderly, gluttonous, dimwitted, and demented, orange, individual. Our nation is under the control of a group of obscenely wealthy and disconnected Dadaists and Surrealists who constantly bicker over who is better at ignoring the needs and demands of the peasants. You think each day should end with a rolling screen of credits so you can know who wrote the horror movie we find ourselves in, who directed it, who the key grips and best boys were that helped it all come together. We live in a fantasy world, it just isn’t our fantasy. Everyday there is more insanity, everyday there are more theatrical and false calls to God, everyday we receive more and more of the same with just minor variations. It feels like a sequel to the movie “Groundhog’s Day” but, of course, today isn’t Ground Hog’s day. Today is April first, but it seems that yesterday and the day before and the day before were as well. We can all feel in our guts that tomorrow and the day after and the day after…
Happy April Fool's everyone, it feels like this one is going to stick around for a while.

In 2008 I helped organize a marriage equality protest in N'ville. We didn't have the numbers that No Kings did, but we did have around 400 people show up which was pretty huge for a LGBTQ+ rights protest in Nashville at that time. One of the local news outlets said that "dozens" of people showed up.
It's not about crime or immigration, it is about control.

Great song! I added it to the list!
Made a playlist of a few songs that seem appropriate for the times we live in. Let me know if you think of any other songs that should be included.

Belgium is well known for its waffles and for its fries, but in all the time I have spent in Belgium I have never, not one single time, ever seen waffle fries for sale. Color me confused.

The 14th amendment doesn't apply to discrimination from private citizens unless there is considerable state involvement. If Tennessee passes a law encouraging discrimination that would seem to be considerable state involvement.
AI companies want to make money, the way they will do this is by creating AI products that can replace jobs that now require people. Then they sell this product to companies so they can fire people and increase their profits...

It is already happening. Fight back by avoiding machines that replace people. No self checkout lanes, no order kiosks at fast food restaurants, demand to speak with a person on a phone call. Make AI carry an unacceptable stigma so companies can't afford to use it.

There are some pretty atrocious things in the latest release of Epstein files. Just remember that if a senator, representative, president, or anyone else in our government got something of value from Epstein, even if they didn't do anything sexually repulsive, it is still bad.
Ok, if they are being paid then who is paying them? Show us the evidence. Also how much do you have to pay someone to protest over a cause they don't believe in and be willing to endure subzero temps with the chance of being tear gassed or executed? How much did they pay Renee Good and Alex Pretti?
MAGA people keep saying the protestors in Minneapolis are only there because they are being paid to be there. So who is paying them? Just as importantly how much does it cost to get someone to stand in subzero temps and risk getting teargassed and executed when they don't even believe in the cause?
We would all be living in a British colony right now if it wasn't for France
I find it hard to believe that cursive is going to save our democracy. We can choose any font we want to print the words of our founding fathers and the easier we make it to read their words the more people will be willing to read them.
