Lambeosaurine crests! New work compares internal nasal anatomy of adult Corythosaurus & Lambeosaurus vs juveniles & Hypacrosaurus. Strong genus-level differences, but surprisingly little variation between Corythosaurus species.

Continuing the International Day of Women in Science. Mary Ann Woodhouse (Mantell)(1795-1869) self taught artist who illustrated hundreds of plates and specimens for Gideon Mantell, helping with discovery & description of the Iguanadon, one of the first dinosaurs (celebrating 200 year anniversary!)

#Iguanodon was formally named 200 years ago today in 1825. The second dinosaur to be named after Megalosaurus, and one of three genera originally used to define Dinosauria.
A stylized drawing of Pterodaustro. The pterosaur is portrayed in shallow water (where it likely fed using hundreds of teeth to filter food items), with hands positioned outwards as suggested by pterodactyloids footprints. The wing membranes of pterosaurs had sophisticated anatomy and the illustration shows them contracted. The fluff on the tail hints to the viewer that the animal was covered with pycnofiber. The Pterodaustro colours are inspired by flamingos, modern animals of similar feeding behaviour which take their pigments from their food.
Here's Pterodaustro, a fantastic-looking pterosaur with hundreds of bristle-like teeth used to filter out tiny tiny smol food (eg. plankton) from the water!
