Thx for the geofencing observation, I will follow up.
Unfortunately banning the Bird scooters will not solve the problem of sidewalk riding for all the privately owned e-scooters.
2-year pilot and we’ll go from there there.
Reporting them parked or moving on a sidewalk is helpful to improve the geofencing tech, and to ban people from signing out who break the rules.
Here’s how to deal with them most effectively:
“If you are reporting an improperly parked Bird Canada e-bike or e-scooter, please email 311_halifax@birdcanada.co directly and their team will address the issue as quickly as possible.”
This is why we #KidicalMassHfx. Our built environment needs to be safe enough for all children & youth to get to their destinations (e.g. school, recreation, and work) independently and without injury.
I was thinking that would be the best plan too. I’ll bring them or give them to someone in advance if I can’t make it.
Stickers promoting transit use, density & bike lanes

Barrington St. has long played an impt. role as one of Halifax’s historic commercial corridors, and for decades its potential to (once again) serve as a vibrant “main street” has been a hot topic. So much so, that "Revitalizing Barrington Street" made it into the Downtown Halifax Vision 2030.
“Streets for play, streets for freedom” by @aliceferguson.bsky.social & @timrgill.bsky.social makes the case for a "child lens" on transport policy. Time to prioritise those most impacted yet least considered in planning our streets: Children.

Remember how COVID was purged from our conversation?
Same is happening with climate catastrophe.
Hi Bill, Some decisions to vote yes or no are easy and some are a lot more nuanced! It was suggested to me that perhaps the effort of the Friends could be towards advocating for affordable provincial housing here now. That would be a positive outcome.
