@OhTheUrbanity 3 hours ago Having a baby has made us appreciate buses more. But it’s also highlighted how many child-related trips (daycares, libraries, community centres, etc) don’t work that well on transit but do work well by bike. Cycling just fills in a lot of the gaps where transit is weaker (and vice versa).

Ran into a #KidicalMassHfx parent this morning and she said the kids were talking about Kidical Mass last night.
Knowing that, in the middle of winter, these kids and their families are talking about these rides and looking forward to the new season is balm for the soul.

He also recommends parents and teachers who really care about kids’ transportation, mobility, and independence, start a bike bus to their school.

My thrifting-luck was strong today. I found another set of dog saddle bags which can be converted into child-sized panniers. Got a kid who might like these? If needed, I can help with sewing/adaptations to make them fit your kid’s bike (rear rack required).

One unexpected thing I learned today on my way to the #KidicalMassHFX in Bedford as part of a “bike bus” group: in addition to the Fisherman’s Market, there are many other businesses along the Bedford Highway that I would love to be able to buy things from if I could get there safely. Maybe someday.
