Did My Father’s World Die with Him? Grieving the Incalculable Costs of “STEM.” - The Scholarly Kitchen Grieving my father's death feels inextricably tangled with grieving the catastrophe overtaking the whole of our research infrastructure.

"My father, an early and prominent computer scientist, passed away more than two years ago. Since then I’ve been trying to make sense of how rapidly the world that helped make him, and in turn the one he helped shape, is unraveling." 1/ scholarlykitchen.sspnet.org/2025/06/26/d...

The Conference on the History of Women Religious at the Cushwa Center for the Study of American Catholicism ended just yesterday. I think I will be processing all that I saw, heard, and most importantly learned for a good while. 1/2

In light of the Trump administration restricting access to trans-specific support on the national 988 suicide prevention hotline, I’m asking everyone to share this alternative loud and wide:

The Rainbow Youth Project is here.
There is always help.

"You need not caution me regarding any little remarks which you might make for to no one living [underlined in orig.] would I reveal them. I too have many things which I would like to speak to you of but yet it would not do to write about."

I have a feeling that the assholes currently running Interior are going to regret this directive in the end. There are too many smart, vindictive supporters of national parks out there.

I just wish that park rangers were not caught in the cross-fire.
