Led by @northpennines.bsky.social and @yorkshiredales.org.uk, and developed in partnership with farmers and land managers, Tees-Swale is one of the UKโs most ambitious nature recovery programmes.
'Creatively Connected' is a one-year arts project that Northern Heartlands has been commissioned to produce. Running since September 2024 itโs supported by @artscouncilengland.bsky.social and The National Lottery Heritage Fund as part of the wider Tees-Swale: naturally connected programme.
Last week marked #EarthDay2025 , so we celebrated the power of creativity to connect people, place, and planet. ๐
Today is Social Prescribing Day 2025, a day to celebrate and raise awareness of Social Prescribing Link Workers and the role that creative health plays in building healthier, happier communities.
Our Director, Jill Cole, who is hard of hearing, is learning BSL as itโs an essential and practical tool for communication and accessibility.

This week is Sign Language Week, a week to celebrate British Sign Language (BSL) and mark the 22nd anniversary of its official recognition as a language in its own right by the UK Government.
Activities took place in our Place Lab tent, where participants were invited to make rosettes, badges, or use building blocks to represent "home." Facilitators encouraged attendees to reflect on their connection to the places they live. ๐
In 2024, over 600 people participated in activities at agricultural shows across Weardale, including the Stanhope Show, to explore themes of belonging and community.
Creatively Connected is the arts strand of Tees:Swale Naturally Connected, a partnership between @northpennines.bsky.social and @yorkshiredales.org.uk. The project focuses on high nature value upland farming and nature recovery, funded by @artscouncilengland.bsky.social and the NLHF #IWD2025 #IWD
