Too many contract faculty are hired term-to-term, paid less than their peers for the same teaching, & denied benefits. That instability affects faculty and students.

Today is OCUFA's Day of Action in support of #fairness4CF.

#ONPSE is increasingly being run on gig-style academic work, a result of years of provincial underfunding. The system is under strain, and students and faculty feel the impact.

The financial struggles plaguing our postsecondary education sector are not a sudden development, nor are they solely a result of federal changes to international student permit caps.

In Canada, proposed cuts of 15% across the federal government would have a dramatic effect on already globally decimated research & science.

Join Canada's research and science community and tell PM Mark Carney to preserve the funding promised in 2024.

In one generation, the cost of undergrad tuition has more than DOUBLED in Canada. Meanwhile the cost of living has gone up 69%. What we need is affordable college and university – and instead Canada’s getting tuition fees that are outpacing inflation. app.sosha.ai/s/joonapig

We condemn the unprecedented suspensions to admissions to programs at York...We denounce the attack on the Arts and Humanities as this weakens critical thinking as part of our educational mission and the university's role in working for social justice in the world. @yorkuniversity.bsky.social

CUASA is currently at the table with Carleton University.

This round of bargaining CUASA is focused on bargaining for equitable and sustainable working conditions for faculty and librarians because we know that our working conditions are student's learning conditions.

Coins falling and forming a pile. Text that reads "50% of students will graduate with debt"

1 in 2 students will graduate with debt that will take them an average of 10 years to pay off.

Saddling young Canadians with debt isn’t sustainable. We need affordable post-secondary education.

Nova Scotia has proposed legislation increasing political interference in universities.

Political interference in education isn’t just an American phenomenon. It’s alive and well in Canada too.

Politicians should not dictate the priorities of universities.

Many contract faculty rely on “part-time” teaching as their full-time income. It’s time to stop the gigification of teaching and support permanent positions.
