1/ Philipp Mallm from the @dkfz.bsky.social Single-cell Open Lab just broke the news at #AACR26: the first results on colorectal cancer (CRC) tissue analysis with the new Atera spatial transcriptomics platform from @10xgenomics.bsky.social. Is it "making the impossible possible?" 🧵

You don’t need to be a single cell expert to start #singlecell research. Our resources and experts are here to guide you with confidence every step of the way. Learn more ➡️ bit.ly/4imEiCi
🧪 The attack on science could have a generational effect. We risk losing a wave of early-career researchers to these cuts. And biomedical science in the US will be less ambitious, less competitive & lead to fewer breakthroughs. So much is at stake. My latest for @opinion.bloomberg.com (🎁 link):
New report shows that NIH grants fueled $95 billion in economic activity and 407,782 jobs in 2024.
That's not to mention the countless lives that biomedical research has saved.
Show me a better investment than that.

This isn't going to get the attention of Columbia, but it's at least as bad: the University of Maine is having its funding cut off because the governor of Maine dared to challenge Trump.
“It should be obvious to everyone that what’s happening on this campus is not about protecting Jews.” -Columbia Professor Emerita Marianne Hirsch, daughter of Holocaust survivors

Enjoyed participating in this far-ranging podcast about CRISPR and genome editing and its transformative impact on human health — and even more important in these challenging times.

Data speaks louder than words. 👇 A recent independent study compared 9 commercially available #singlecell assays and found that Chromium assays are leading the way in overall performance. Check out the results > bit.ly/41Hi4VV

This year I will be once again riding in Cycle for Survival to support rare cancer research at MSKCC. Rare cancers are severely underfunded despite the fact that half of patients with cancer have a rare subtype. 100% of funds raised by CFS go to rare cancer research! www.cycleforsuvival.com/donate

Since everyone else is doing it… Here’s a starter pack for researchers studying the most interesting allele in AD. go.bsky.app/PDtaUP6 Let me know if you want to be added (doesn’t have to be the sole focus of your research). Also, it turns out a lot of my favorite APOE4 folks aren’t on bluesky yet.
