'you've got to make sure it's anchored in the truth' - oh, the irony
Totally understandable. I was detained in Logan on my way to SBL by armed CBP officers (who took my computer & phone), then held by police. I'm a US citizen. It was a mistake (not mine!) & a very unpleasant 3hrs. I'm aware it would be far more frightening for others without the privileges I have.
(I say non-stressful, but they're 0 - 5 up, 2 outs and 2 - 2, but I still think they might mess it up given how this season is going)
Finishing up the last of my marking for the year. It's nice to have a (surprisingly non‑stressful) Giants game in the background for company. Day game means the time difference isn't an issue and Oracle Park looks fantastic today.
It's great to see this Syndicate symposium released, which I convened for Garrick Allen's recent book. Currently, you can see pieces by me & @sccarlson.bsky.social, but others by Saskia Dirkse, Jennifer Knust, & Juan Hernández will appear over the next few days.

This is excellent. It's great to see Garrick's book discussed with these quality responses, further making the case for the importance of paratexts. Looking forward to the next pieces!
Icon of Luke, writing in Arabic; page from a Coptic-Arabic Gospel Book.
Close up of the icon; Arabic text being written by Luke.
The icon of Luke is rather striking. Some interesting details included about literary composition: he's copying from another codex on stand and is writing in Arabic.
Icon of Mark, receiving a codex from Peter; from a Coptic-Arabic Gospel Book (13th C.)
The manuscript also has icons of the four gospel writers. The depiction of Mark includes Peter, who is bringing Luke a small codex; another codex rests upon what looks like a ṭāwula in the background.

Image of a 13th C Arabic/Coptic Gospel, depicting fol. 179r: The Raising of Lazarus (John 11:1–44); The Holy Women at the Tomb (Mark 16:1–8); The Road to Emmaus (Luke 24:13–27; cf. Mark 16:12); The Incredulity of Thomas (John 20:24–29); The Miraculous Catch of Fish (John 21:1–14); The Ascension (Luke 24:50–53)
Happy Easter, everyone.
And to you!
If we add the direct article, then here's one I made using my late 90s photoshop 'skills'
I hadn't seen this before, but I love it.
I once wrote 'Augustine the Hippo' in feedback, but I don't know if that qualifies.
📣Spotlight on Book of Acts, chaired by Daniel McGinnis and James Morgan
Book Review Panel Discussion: This session will be a panel discussion of James Morgan’s book Perceptions of the Divine in Greek Historiography: A Hermeneutical Dilemma from Herodotus to Luke.
Ah no, autocorrect. That should be 'Campsie' not campsite!
From the Campsite area, near Glasgow. The forest carpet of snowdrops was taken last month, but they were nice so I've included them.

"Under such a jus sanguinis approach to citizenship, the already existing lines of inequality within the U.S. could be hardened... further exacerbating inequality in the United States." - Phillip Connor, Matthew Hall, & Francesc Ortega
To be clear, I don't think birthright citizenship should be defended only on economic grounds, but this research underlines that it is, unsurprisingly, a policy being targeted for symbolic and ideological reasons rather than anything grounded in reality.

The local hills were looking nice today, once the clouds eventually blew over.
