Satoshi was also very likely a member of the Cypherpunks, a group of anarchists formed in the early 1990s who wanted to use cryptography, the art of securing communications through code, to free individuals om government surveillance and censorship. The Cypherpunks interacted mostly through something called an internet mailing list. Ancestors of today's message boards, mailing lists were large group emails in old typewriter font that subscribers received in their inbox. To communicate, respondents replied-all.

Modern People: "Silent movies are boring!"
Silent Movies:
After five days of sci-fi/fantasy convention fun and silliness with friends, coming back to the real world and Trump openly threatening nuclear genocide is quite the bit of unpleasant whiplash. Can I go back go geeking with friendly people, please?
I hope the rest of your Norwescon went better than this interaction did!

Me behind my laptop and DJ gear, and in front of a projection screen showing graphics and Norwescon and DJ Wüdi logos, lit all in greens and blues, gesturing and singing along with the song being played.

The background image is an illustration of a field filled with yellow and orange flowers, low blue hills at the horizon. In the foreground is a person wearing a dress and sunhat, holding a book. A yellow and blue dragon cranes it's neck over the book as if reading it with the person. At the top of the image is the Norwescon logo made up of a rocket above the word Norwescon and a dragon below. Under the dragon is the number 48. Below is a photo of a hotel lobby, there are signs and banners stating Badge Pick-Up, Registration, and Registration Kiosk. There are people lined up within black stanchions in front of the these signs. Below the photo are the words Membership Rate Increase.

There's a reason @fozmeadows.bsky.social has a bunch of Best Fan Writer nominations and it's because when he goes, he goes fucking brilliantly.
