A captioning screen that says, “Welcome to Norwescon. Close enough.” Apparently the tech was less enthusiastic than the people were.
From the opening ceremonies, our five guests of honor (two men and three women) seated on stage under a projection screen showing the Norwescon logo over art of a young girl reading a book to a dragon in a field of flowers. On stage from left to right are body painter Dutch Bihary, Bradley Engelert of Orbit Books, astrophysicist Summer Ash, artist Geneva Bowers, author Ursula Vernon a.k.a. T. Kingfisher, and host Jon Lavinder.
During the “how to fandom dance” panel, a small group of people on a dance floor are in a circle with one in the center mid-jump; in the foreground is a laptop running DJ software playing Boney M’s “Rasputin”.
During the dance, I stand on stage behind a table with a laptop and DJ mixer. The stage is lit in blues and greens. Behind me is a large projection screen showing fancy graphics, including the art for the songs being played and the artist and title of the currently playing track.
