My Pops is from Lacombe Alberta, so on our recent trip to Oregon I couldn’t pass up a chance to check out the bustling town of Lacomb (no “e”) Oregon. He was suitably amused, but then a bit freaked out by the totally normal and not at all unhinged signage and sculpture at the local store.
I think this peregrine falcon has a much more convincing stare down than I do.

My partner and I watched #TheBrutalist yesterday. There were some really beautiful shots, and solid acting by Adrian Brody, but overall I found it unnecessarily long. 3.5 hours, plus a 15 minute intermission, plus the previews and ads before meant over 4 hours in a theatre seat.

It’s so bright out that I was blinded and my eyes were watering. Lower Mainland Independent, that’s me. Independent of common sense, maybe, but come on.
In Oregon it seems to be ok. Mum looked into getting it all stripped out a couple of times, but the electricians told her that her wiring was better and more robust than anything modern, so she’s kept it. The entire 2nd floor is ungrounded outlets though, which is annoying.
