HR 2100: International Human Rights Law in Context
HR 2100 has a new name! Concepts and conventions in one course was too much! This renamed course focuses on the international legal framework of human rights, focusing on the United Nations system and its human rights treaties and conventions. This fascinating course is taught by Katrina Leclerc - an engaged scholar with applied experience in the UN system.

June 8 - June 23, Monday - Friday 1 - 4 pm

*Stay tuned for a new course in the Fall of 2026 which will focus on Human Rights concepts and origins*

From Invitation to Ownership: Dismantling Gatekeeping in the Youth, Peace and Security Agenda (Le français suit.) Every August, International Youth Day offers an opportunity to celebrate young people’s contributions to peace, justice, and social change.

On this #InternationalYouthDay, I’m reflecting on what it really means for young peacebuilders to belong in policy spaces.

In the #YouthPeaceSecurity agenda, inclusion is often celebrated, but inclusion alone is not belonging. ⤵️

Notes from the field article "Feminist Government but No Feminist Foreign Policy: The Curious Case of Canada" by Katrina Leclerc.
Article begins: In June 2017, Canada launched its feminist international assistance policy (Government of Canada 2017). The policy came less than two years after the election of Justin Trudeau’s majority government, following a decade of funding cuts and targeted rollbacks of the feminist movement (Stinson Reference Stinson2015). In addition to the several billion Canadian dollars committed through the policy, the emphasis on new and creative approaches to international assistance is particularly interesting (Government of Canada 2017). Rebecca Tiessen highlights the “repetitive use of specific words such as ‘new’ (mentioned 40 times), ‘innovative’ (noted eight times) or ‘innovation’ (mentioned 10 times)” (2019, 3).
