I know why people say they would & there are a lot of things that were so good back then, especially on the railways. But I wouldn't want to go back to no double glazing, rubbish central heating, rust bucket cars, no food choices like today, only instant coffee, 3 TV channels, no internet etc etc π¬

#MeridianMonday An East Midlands Railway #MML service heading away from the camera past Isham, south of Kettering. The River Ise flows alongside the line here, just out of shot in the foreground. 222018 was working #EMR 1C53 13.00 Sheffield to London St.Pancras. 11/4/26
#BiModeMonday A warm enough day for a #Flakeπ¦ The future of UK freight operation, #GBRailfreight #Stadler #EuroDual locomotive 99001 passing Ketton footbridge in #Rutland yesterday working 0Q01 Peterborough North Yard #GBRF to Leicester LIP. 19/4/26
Would still be worth it i'd say
31 isn't far off a return. Yeah the Hymek is off back to the South West via the Gloucestershire & Warwickshire gala i think isn't it? That's been a really excellent guest at the line. The New Year's Eve Nightrider being a real highlight of mine during her time at the GCR π
I'm probably going to look at going to the autumn one where i would think the 31/4 might well be back in her new coat of BR blue! Shame about D1705 but the good news is she is getting sorted this year from what i hear so hopefully not too long to wait.
I was on the 12.30 along with just about everyone else, it was very popular. Here she is before we left Kiddy.
Shame about the 33, 50 wasn't a suprise as it's having or needs work doing. Deltic i can take or leave, usually the latter π but they have a couple of decent guests in the Hymek & 26. If they pair up the 26 with 27056 on the beerex that'll be very decent. Not forgetting peak, 2 x 37s and a 14 too!
Yes got to be assumed it'll be 7 or 49. Won't be Thunderer that's for sure. I do like it now they're both back in BR large logo livery, very smart indeed.
Yeah that's a decent route and a pretty fair price by 2026 standards. Good traction too. If i've read it right it reads as if the 20s take it south to Bedford & then the 50 leads back north via Kettering. Might have to be out early for both directions in that case!
Seems to have been more disruption on the #ECML yesterday meaning everything was crawling past Peterborough at lunchtime. Here is #LNER 91105 'National Railway Museum Years 50 Years 1975-2025' running 20L with 1A19 11.37 Bradford Forster Square to Kings Cross. @225group.org.uk 18/4/26
I'll no doubt be at Kettering to snap this one π
A slightly different #SandTrainSaturday this week at Hurn Rd footbridge, Marholm, on the #ECML north of Peterborough. The sun was wrong side so I used a longer lens to highlight the dust cloud & went for a mono edit. 60095 #ColasRail 6M89 Middleton Towers to Chaddesden. 18/4/26
#SyphonSaturday on the #ECML this lunchtime. A colourful 3Z03 Ferme Park Reception Sidings to Derby RTC with #LargeLogo lovely 37424 up front & #Colas livery 37421 on the rear. Snapped from Hurn Road footbridge, Marholm, north of Peterborough. 18/4/26
Was that this time back in 2017? Their resident 33/1 plus a rather nice looking guest 33063..
Would be nice to see the two 33s there running together
#FrontEndFriday BR green #Crompton 33008 'Eastleigh' (D6508) undergoing restoration at Shackerstone on the Battlefield Line. It sounds as if she is not too far away from running again which would be a fine sight indeed. #BRCW #BattlefieldLine @brcwco.bsky.social 3/4/26
#FuglyFriday #HeavyHaul 70s have become a welcome & regular sight on our patch of the #MML this year. Yesterday the Tunstead to Luton diagram produced 70002, seen passing Kettering in the evening working back north as 6M80 Luton Crescent Road to Tunstead Sidings. #Fugly 16/4/26
#ThirtyOnesOnThursday Last 2 pics from my short trip to the Northampton & Lamport Railway with the pooch πΎπΎ on Sunday. 31289 heading north from Pitsford & Brampton with the midday round trip departure & then shortly after reversal short of Bridge 14, propelling back towards Pitsford. #NLR 12/4/26
Great vibes round there ππ»π»

Same here, I'm not a fan of scrawly tags but these sort of full cover coloured pieces i really like
I need to get over there one Saturday morning
Good location is South Kenton π
Ear syringing isn't too bad, I've had it quite a few times. Sounds horrific but once i realised it didn't involve being injected with syringes i was fine!
I love seeing these. This was the only one i could get but I'd usually try to get pics of the more clolourful ones in a set. Code of conduct relating to the info panels/numbers?
Yes Whittlesea box still very much in use
Right, thanks, on my priority list π
I'm probably in a minority but i like wagons like this
Is the box still there do you know?
