Things are thinging: in three days we will relocate up the coast to my partner's home town to a much cozier place. Hopefully the skinny dragon tree will feel more nourished there. I kinda feel the same way, as I never really settled down to my home town of 30+ years. Can't wait ❤️‍🔥

Many things cooking: article revisions, thesis-writing, plans to relocate (!), job-hunting, apartment-hunting.. ughh.
I saw this shy alien at the city library in Vaasa last weekend, and I do feel like hiding, as well. But many fun things are coming our way, too. We'll just have to be brave, now. 😶‍🌫️

4. The ending of the film was such unprecedented perfection. A true Garland-Boyle experience. I can't wait to see the sequel! 🧟

We finally watched 28 Years Later, and my first feelings are:
1. I love Alex Garland, Danny Boyle and their minds. It was disgusting and scary, but also beautiful and I want more of this, soon.
2. The poem "Boots" was news to me and will live rent-free in my head for a long time.

When I say that I am an enthusiast, I mean it. I'm 3 days into unemployment, and the despair has not yet set in. Will it even? I looked at one interesting job with a wish for some skills in XML, so now I'm learning it. It really can't hurt, and it's a lot of fun so far! PS. These pens are the best.

I actually ended up deleting Substack. I don't know if it's my post-Insta-burnout or just my brain in general, but it was very overwhelming and kind of "commercial while trying to not seem commercial". I can't really explain it.. I think I'll stick to BlueSky for now, it seems easier to manage. :)

Waiting for a message that may re-define your life for the foreseeable future is both exhilarating and torture at the same time. I do have a strong feeling that we are heading towards some really good times. But for now, we wait and see.

I've been testing Substack, as it was recommended as a more slow-paced social media instead of Insta. Most long-form texts there do seem to share the same form. Kind of like a Trent Reznor song (sorry, Trent): you don't even know the lyrics, but you know exactly where the song is going to go next. 😁

Happy Valentine's Day! In Finland, today is not a romantic celebration, and is in fact called "Friend's Day" (Ystävänpäivä). The Finnish Olympic men's ice hockey team did not make any new Italian friends today, but they will always have a friend in me 😂🥰 And a record amount of shots on goal! 🎊

Our very noisy neighbours did everyone a favour and moved out. After 5 months of little sleep, it feels like a miracle! 🎊 The building is suddenly so quiet, and I'm just now noticing that their noisiness was the source of nearly all my stress. Well, that and the PhD work, but that is kinda obvious 😬
