I create the videos using the pro version of Canva. I use templates/photos from their db which I tweak using their in-house tools e.g. background remover. Given how much software companies are utilising AI I would suggest that yes AI is involved. However the story and narration is most definitely me

That's definitely a possibility. Whilst I will pay the fee I think D2D could be more forthcoming in what the revenue will actually be spent on.
I can see this being an issue, but why charge, is it actually going to stop a book spammer? Or is there an increased cost to D2D to put procedures in place to ensure there is greater quality control? There's no doubt that AI generated content is damaging the indie author and needs to be addressed

Sadly I don't believe for one second it's to do with ai scammers. They could put zero cost measures and additional checks in place to curtail that. I might be cynical but I think it is about maximizing profitability
