Books: Hogfather by Terry Pratchett (Discworld #20) Had trouble getting through this one, similar to Soul Music. It's not bad, but I find myself getting a bit tired of the whole "Death goes off on his extracurricular activities" schtick; it's entirely possibly the Death line of these books just doesn't agree with me. I also found Teatime a bit uninteresting as an antagonist. I do find Susan a much more interesting protagonist though. I think part of the reason I had so much trouble with this particular book is that I was so confused about what was going on until near the end; I kind of see it all come together around the same time Susan does. I will probably try to do a Witches or Guards book after this one, to maybe get back to the kinds of plots that I liked more about the series. * * * Some quotes I highlighted: Pratchett being prescient about "AI": > “Amazin’,” said Ridcully. He knocked the ashes out of his pipe on Hex’s “Anthill Inside” sticker, causing Ponder to wince. “This thing’s a kind of big artificial brain, then?” “You could think of it like that,” said Ponder, carefully. “Of course, Hex doesn’t actually think. - sci-fi comedy about a fantasy world which is flat like a disc
- each book is an "episode", you can jump in anywhere
- ahead of its time! (1980s womens rights trans rights acab etc)
- learn funny words like "ablution"

Did you manage to complete Discworld? There's a great bit in the 1995 video game where - if you don't give any input for a while - Rincewind will come and tap the screen to wake you up. Top comedy, brilliant casting and "That Doesn't Work" burned into my brain forever
