I think it's worth reading the odd litfic every now and then, to gather ideas to add depth to your characters and plots.
You are free to empathise with characters who have done monstrous things (as opposed to our real-world monsters which, it should be clear, you do not have to hand it to them).
It's not something litfic exclusively possesses, but I think the adherence to realism brings this aspect into clearer focus.

Something my litfic-writing cohort has taught me: litfic stories are often character studies where the writer builds a context in which conflict cannot be cleanly resolved; good and bad exist in superposition.
You can tell who among the cohort see their writing as a creative exercise from those who see it as, idk, vibes-based boilerplate. Which is a shame, because SOMEONE had to find and then arrange a bunch of miscellaneous assets in GIMP, to make covers like these:

Sometimes greater character interiority provides relief from exposition in works that contain complex speculative elements. You may lose needed context, but it has the effect of churning telling into showing on some level. You can then do a pass to check that enough situational signifiers remain.
I have no clue if you will reciprocate (or if you'll even find these posts!). But *you* followed me because you wanted to hear from me. Do I really have the right to complain about a lack of engagement, if I haven't done enough due diligence?

I just think the tools we've made to break creative deadlocks are neat.
